Are there any tmux alternatives with features that are close to, or better than the same? When I’m talking about features, I’m talking about:
- client-server session management
- good plugin support
- advanced copy-paste functionality
- advanced window and pane management
but with GNU license? screen and dtach aren’t what I’m looking for, because they’re lacking in features.
There’s nothing wrong with tmux, and I would like to continue using it with Kakoune, but I want to strengthen my advocacy for software that use GNU license wherever possible.
I’ve been using zellij lately. It’s MIT licensed tho so if the specific license is that important to you it’s a miss
It is funny how I know about this project, because the name happens to sound similar to text editors like zed, or zee (I don’t even remember at this point, but there’s a bunch of similar sounding editors). But this does not show up on any search engine. Unfortunately the license isn’t what I was hoping for, but I’m not strictly GNU-confirming, so I’m going to try it out.
