Ah yes. Drinking beers is a great way to… hide alcoholism.
It’s not alcoholism it’s a serious, elegant, and all-consuming hobby. That’s all. I’m just a hopsthusiast and constant connoisseur. That’s all.
Why does he blow the whistle?
I spent a while acting like I was really interested in the flavors of mezcal, brandies, scotch and whiskey before I was finally fuck it and just drank $5 brandy and Diet Pepsi.
Shut the fuck up and let me drink what I like, ok?
I like beer, I prefer IPAs. “bitter and boozy” is how I describe what I want to bartenders and matchmakers. You don’t like IPA, then don’t drink it?
I love IPAs dont get me wront, but I love not being an alcoholic a whole lot more
You know people can drink IPAs without being alcoholics?
Not regularly. As soon as it is habit forming it is alcoholism.
That’s… pretty stupid tbh. One of the most indicative signs of alcoholism is loss of control. Enjoying a certain type of beer once in a while is not that. Or do you think entire nations in central europe are alcoholics?
do you think entire nations in central europe are alcoholics?
welll……… yeah.
That’s not at all medically or scientifically accurate.
90% of excessive drinkers are not alcoholics.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in collaboration with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The study appears today in the CDC journal Preventing Chronic Disease.
Also, a “habit” is not an addiction. I have a habit of tapping my steering wheel when I listen to music in my car. There is a lot of overlap, but they’re different words that can occur separately. And not all unhealthy habits are addictions. And not all healthy addictions are merely habits.
People who throw around the term alcoholic for fun, are like those people who say “OmG i’M sO OCD” because they like to keep their towels folded neatly in a cabinet.
You’re harming alcoholics by mischaracterizing the disease, while being gleefully judgmental, and confidently wrong.
How is that any different from any other alcoholic drink?
Ok, so by that logic you must be addicted to weed then. Right?
I’ve been a white guy since the 80’s and I have no idea what an IPA is. It is a beer. It is a “pale ale” whatever that is. It also comes equipped with the letter i. Is that all there is to know?
Will you please stop being reasonable and join the gender-conformist circlejerk? Girls like lattes, boys like beers – it’s basic science
My b. Gee whiz I sure can’t get enough IPA. It pairs nicely with the penis that I have.
And I can’t seem to get enough penis, so it all balances out in the grand scheme of things
India Penis Ale
I think you meant to say, Girls are addicted to lattes and Boys are addicted to beer. And if addicted hard enough will make their addiction a part of their personality.
I think people who make gender conformism a part of their personality are worse than people who like IPAs or lattes
I’m not a big fan of either. Is this how I find out I’m non-binary?
I like lattes and hate IPAs. Guess it’s time to transition

(I don’t know if that’s a real community here :P)
It’s around somewhere. I’ve seen it in ALL
Found it!
The I stands for India as the British used to have to stick loads of hops in for the ale to make it to India without going off as hops are antimicrobial.
If you’re a white guy since the 80s what were you before that?
It’s a beer with a fuckton of hops that tastes sort of horrible, unless it’s from Oregon.
Been sober for almost a year now and never felt better. Sobriety isn’t something everyone has to strive for, but damn I’ll tell you it feels good
Congratulations! I know from experience it’s a great feat, but well worth it
I feel personally attacked. And buzzed.
Made a new year’s resolution a few years back to quit drinking cheap beer, and drank nothing but local craft IPA’s for a whole year and became even more of a raging alcoholic drinking 4 or less IPAs every night, than when I drank a 12 pack of cheap beer every night
If you’re looking to wean yourself off of it, I was able to cut back by just stocking liquid death water in the fridge. I used to drink 4-5 cans of beer a night and then replaced it with 3 beers, one water. I found for me at least just holding/drinking from the can was enough for me to cut back one can per night for a few months, and then did the same down to two cans of beer per night.
At first I thought the idea of canned water was so dumb, but realized some of my addiction was not the alcohol itself, but just the act of drinking, and if water were in a beer can, that would be a foot in the door to change my habits.
Pretty much my story exactly. I’ve been going 2 or 3 days a week without lately though. The alcoholism creeps up on you. I’m never drunk per se, but I’m almost always buzzed before bed. I’m trying to cut it out though.
The first time I quit was cold turkey and i had insane night terrors. I relapsed after my father passed, and the last time I quit i stepped down a few beers every night, drinking progressively smaller Miller Lite Tallboys (they have like 4 damn sizes) till i completely quit and started drinking Nonalcoholic IPAs as a reward instead of drinking them because i NEEDED them. Its not easy, but its possible! And i love having a Nonalcoholic beer every other weekend or so.
I like ipas. Citra is my hop. I’m sorry my preferences of drink is annoying to you.
Citra, Nelson, Simcoe… Oh my!
Ahhhhhhhhh
