I tried to buy a TV recently. The cheapest TV in my entire neighbourhood was a 200$ 4k smart TV with Google Assistant integration, no frame around the screen so it can be handled safely, and no buttons, only a remote.
What happened to buying a 720p normal TV with basic longevity features like a frame and buttons? Companies want to sell you all of the expensive bells and whistles and none of the important stuff.
“Smart” is code for “Spies on you and sends your data to Google”. I had to check with the store guy to make sure it would run without internet before I bought it.

When smart is written on something its usually very much the opposite of smart.
