For now… 🖕🏽 They worded that so weasely, they’re just waiting for the storm to pass and for Legal to come up with some compelling reason why they’re totally “obligated” to make it happen, “hands tied” “so sorry” and all that.

Fuck Sony. They made this SOP way back when, and there’s no way they let this stop them forever. It’s all about profit, not what “we” want.

Yet for some reason EA, Ubisoft, and others get away with forcing a login… We should riot each and every time anyone pulls something like this.

Well it was more that they sold the game in countries psn isn’t supported in, waited exactly 3 months (a common limit on sales laws) and then tried to screw all those people over.

They didn’t react because of Helldivers 2, it’s because of their upcoming PlayStation to PC ports, who will feature enforced PSN linkage and they now noticed, “oh fuck, so many people won’t like it and this will cost us sales”, right now only Helldivers player were angry and boycotting, soon it will be every possible Steam customer, who has to decided pro or against getting a mandatory PSN account, for stuff like Ghost of Tsushima and more.

I don’t see how anyone could be for it. What good does it make to be connected to a psn account? I had to make one the other day because my friend wanted to send me funny stuff he did on ps5 and couldn’t share it outside of the psn. They want more people to make accounts i guess. Even if you don’t own any ps devices.

    Bullying works!

*I realized this might come off as judgemental of the people protesting. I’m 100% behind the users here. Bully the rich 24/7.

I’m also going to take into consideration that Sony reversed course along with the fact that they tried this to begin with.

Same with trying to shut down the PS3 and Vita stores and reversing that.

We should employ this more often. Studies show that school bullies are more success later in life. So we might wanna take a pro bullying stance for select groups. ;)

Did Sony let the devs take the heat and then make the “everything is OK” announcement themselves? Such heroes…

Judging by the numbers they would have lost like 70% of the player base…

It’s hard to imagine that at least half the player base isn’t on PS5 where they wouldn’t care about the requirement, but I’m sure it would still have been a significant hit.

Im talking about the PC version. And 70% 1/2 of the player base (PC gamers are more monetarily valuable) is a significant hit. And anti advertising for sony as a whole.

Remember to leave your review as negative and to not re-buy the game if you already refunded it.

I know that, I mean, will they now be relisted for sale there, or remain delisted? The latter would be… Not a good sign for the future.

If PSN account linking was the reason for delisting, since it’s not going to happen anymore, I’d say those countries will be able to play it once again.

There would be no logical reason to keep them delisted, unless they plan to force players to link their accounts later in the future when everyone’s forgotten about this. I wouldn’t discard this possibility completely.

As of posting, they’re all still delisted. And it’s a quick thing for Valve, Sony clearly hasn’t told them to undo the delisting.

Luckily the community ended up going “hey, wait a minute…” about this, too, and it’s gained some attention. I hope Sony commits

Nothing. It’s still delisted in all those countries. Sony has said they’ll not add PSN, but hasn’t actually taken any action.
