One of my friends wives works for an HMO that got hit. She said that within those first early hours, people were cold calling the clinics saying they were from CrowdStrike and wanted to help fix it. I don’t know if it was successful but sure is dirty.

      scammers gonna scam

How many wives does your friend have? :)

But yeah, screw scammers. In general, if it’s time critical, make an outgoing call to a known number, never assume the call you’re receiving is from the vendor they claim to represent. I almost got scammed while on vacation because of this, but I caught myself mid-call and fixed it.

I guess that explains why the scammer I’ve been scam-baiting suddenly went quiet.

Moving onto scams that have a higher chance of working.

To be clear, it’s been texting only. I’m nowhere near Jim Browning or Kitoboga (sp?) levels.

But so far I’ve wasted three scammers time by asking them what “telegram” is.

I’m just happy people like you those various YouTubers exist. It may feel like a drop in the ocean, but you probably helped someone not get scammed that day.
