Looks absolutely amazing.
Carla also looks really great:
Plugin bridges are used to load even more plugin formats and types, sometimes even those that are not native to the current platform.
I’ve been slacking on producing music because I’m using Linux now. Both Carla and Zrythm seem like they could get me going again.
How does it hold up against Ardour?
Zrythm looks so much more modern and advanced then Ardour.
Got to say I strongly disagree, I have used Ardour and other DAWs extensively. Ardour is a very good DAW but it’s MIDI capabilities are still improving. Zrhythm and Ardour came from different angles and seems like they are both becoming more modern.
Yea you might be right… Also why does Zrythm says “Zrythm-trial” during install under Linux? Is it really a trial only? wth
Their download page lists different payment tiers that include things like “Unlimited tracks” and “Z Series plugins”. I presume you get those features for a limited time with the trial.
On the other hand, I presume all those features are available to you perpetually if you build it yourself from source instead of installing from a prebuilt binary.
I didn’t know this either! Just seen their site, they have several packages: https://www.zrythm.org/en_GB/download.html
I think it is fair enough that they need to make money somehow but looks like they have only made £155 in November which is a shame. I have been a low-level donor for Ardour for 12 years now, and you can see they make something like £4000. I will check out Zrhythm properly as they obviously put a lot of effort in.
That is really a shame! Owh this £155 in November is that only donations? Maybe they also earn via Purchases?
I had assumed that was both but not sure
Modern meaning a GTK app?
The only other DAW I’ve used before Ardour was Reaper and I got my head around Ardours Ui a lot quicker on my first go.
Yes GTK v4 is very modern. There is nothing wrong with GTK and C++.
Congrats! Thank you very much for your incredible work
Are there any guides for gett8ng this to work as a flatpak in Arch? I am not sure I can get it to connect to an output or jack.
Love it!
