Don’t, I repeat, do not base your self worth on what other people think. Listen to their input and make yourself the best person you can be. But if you only have self-worth due to how impressed your neighbors are, you are going to have a very poor life as you make a continued bad decisions.

Law

There are vanishingly few laws that are centered around impressing anybody. The core theme to is to create laws that best allow for the functioning of society. For some easy examples, lack of criminalizing murder, lack of property rights, or lack of a tax code all fuck up modern society pretty quick.

Exactly what you said! Open Source INTelegence. Basically people taking publicly available data and using it to confirm attacks. Things like NASA FIRMS data can be used to verify where fires are; and when combined with videos of a fire in the direction of an airfield, for example, can be used to confirm that yes, on this specific date, these parts of an airfield are on fire.

LLMs do not understand the text, so they cannot pick out the important sentences. Because of this, they are unable to summarize the text; instead they shorten the text. Unless the text is very rambly, important meaning will be lost when shortening.

Yeah, AWD has a small MPG penalty and one-time purchase cost. If you live in a cold climate or drive off-road it is incredibly important to make sure you don’t get stuck. If you live in a warm climate and keep it on the road, probably would opt for FWD. I suppose RWD is also an option, but then it is much, much easier to get stuck, to the point I would never consider it unless this is a side car you don’t care about.

I also have had very, very few issues with tires. I don’t tend to drive on upright nails or hit curbs at high speed, so at least for me the advantage of only needing to replace two at a time vs four (or get a new one ground down to match) is almost a non-thought.

Any fan pushing out is also causing air to pull in somewhere else. The inverse is also true. Setup all your fans in the same orientation (ex: all blowing out or all blowing in) and have the other windows in the house open as well.

For maximum effect, have the cool air first coming into a room (or rooms) you are in or most want to cool down. As that will give you the most pronounced, direct effect.

It is also generally helpful to make sure the air has to travel through several rooms in its journey. If it is coming in a window, and leaving from another window in the same room, most of your house will get nothing.

You can also run your home’s HVAC on fan mode to distribute air more, if you are having troubles with certain areas of the house. Also remember bathroom vents can help out, too.

You create as many as is appropriate for the story. If you are picking the race of characters for any reason other than the story itself, you are sacrificing the quality of the story.

There are some practical concerns if your story is turning into a film. If you are filming in China you are probably going to have a lot of Chinese, if you are filming in Kenya, you are probably going to have a lot of Kenyans, if you are filming in Germany, you are probably going to have a lot of Germans, etc, etc.

Code should absolutely speak for itself. But the occasional comment is still good to explain the ‘why’ of the code when the why isn’t very obvious, often due to a niche requirement. Also any time you have to break out a hack, that needs comments up the ass, what was the bug, what URL did you find the fix at, why does this hack work, etc etc. It’s very satisfying to go back and remove those hacks after they are no longer needed, often because the underlying technology fixed the bug that had to be hacked around.

I value free time very highly and a 9-5 job that doesn’t demand constant OT results in a nice work-life balance, IMO. I personally found the transition very pleasant. Main negative was getting time off for chores that must be done during work hours. But, many places are pretty chill about that.
