They’re not even all at the same angle… 😫
They’re not even all at the same angle… 😫
There’s a bunch of game studios that think they need to use ring zero to prevent cheaters. And basically the user is just told ‘trust me bro’ that they’re not going to mess up your system.

Riot games just recently added it I believe.
I personally refuse to play any game that is ring zero. And this big outage is a clear example as to why it’s a bad idea to give random devs unlimited access to your machine.
Oh you can add so much more on Apples entry. For a fun read, I suggest doing a web search for ‘Apple anti-suicide nets’. Apple and nestlé are among the top of my list for companies I morally cannot support due to human exploitation.
Yes technically they are making games but if a large part of your core audience doesn’t want to or can’t play the games you’re making then to them you aren’t really making games. Cause from my perspective
Just because they don’t cater to you, don’t mean they aren’t making games. I need to you follow this, they are, in fact, making games. Your opinion of reality does not change that. It’s not a matter of perspective. It’s a quantifiable fact, they are making games. We can measure it, we can observe it. A game does not exist simply because we’re not interested in it. Fifa and NFL games exist, despite my lack of interest in playing them. But they exist regardless. If I apply your thinking to myself, I could say Bethesda doesn’t make games… which would be an incorrect statement.
And finally, Counter Strike and Dota… pretty much any given day, are among the top 5 games actively being played on Steam. At this exact moment on Steam, there’s 7,024,911 In-Game, 725,884 are in Counter-Strike, and 387,447 in Dota. That’s 15.8% of all active players at this exact second are playing a Valve game. That’s almost 1 in 6 people actively playing something in Steam right now. And I’m not even adding the number of people right this moment that are also playing some of their older titles, as thousands right now are still playing older version of Counter-Strike and Team Fortress 2. I bring this up, to your incorrect statement “large part of your core audience doesn’t want to or can’t play the games you’re making”. https://steamdb.info/charts/
I’m the corporate world, very much Windows gets used. I know Lemmy likes a circle jerk around Linux. But in the corporate world you find various OS’s for both desktop and servers. I had to support several different OS’s and developed only for two. They all suck in different ways there are no clear winners.
Then your initial statement is factually an accurate. They do make games just not ones that fall within your criteria.
I’m just going to copy my reply to someone.
They still make Dota. They released a new Counter Strike. Not that long ago they did Underlords and Artifact. And not all that long ago there was The Lab and Half-Life Alyx
They still make Dota. They released a new Counter Strike. Not that long ago they did Underlords and Artifact. And not all that long ago there was The Lab and Half-Life Alyx. So what exactly are you looking for?
I’ve seen RHEL completely crap itself due to a 3rd party update. Wasn’t that long ago fairly certain it was a McAfee update that took down a bunch of our Linux boxes. It happens.
If I could change, I would jump at the opportunity.
Place I take my car too, 10 minute drive… 3 and 1/2 hour walk one way back home. Or I could go to the nearest town which is 2 hours and 50 minutes away the other way.
I’ll just stick with Tile. Tons of people already and it works. This article really didn’t do a fine point of showcasing the pros and cons of different options.
I would love a new Ultima game. Early UO was great before EA really mucked it up. I’m guessing when they say Fallout I guess follow one or two? The old school Ultima games had that classic isometric gameplay style that would translate perfectly with how Larian and does things. I also feel like the lore and map works better with Ultima. I think with fallout, since it’s still a very active game, I don’t think Bethesda would want to compete. Let’s be real if they did do Fallout it would be absolutely fire especially compared to what Bethesda has come out with.
Drinking is not the most important things in the world.
In the US for sure, teenagers start to idolize alcohol and eventually it becomes the pinnacle of cool for some. “Parties” end up revolving around just the alcohol and getting completely wasted. Trust me, you are not a cool, as charming, etc, as you think you are when drunk. And there’s are, absolutely people who will show up to these parties expecting to exploit drunk people.
I’m not telling you ‘NEVER DRINK!’… More like, you don’t need to try drinking a lifetimes worth of alcohol everytime there’s alcohol around you. 1 drink can be enough. And don’t hang out with people who push you to drink or don’t accept ‘no’ as an answer and try to peer pressure you into drinking.
My plan is either soon the lotto or die before retirement. Now, I’ve been in a corporate job for nearly 2 decades, putting money in a 401k and Roth IRA. But given the rate that the value of the dollar is just tanking and the cost of everything is skyrocketing, I honestly figure everything I saved will be worthless. I’ve had my AC off for months at this point, turned it off towards the end of winter early spring. The electric company is telling me that I’m at best on par with some of my neighbors with other neighbors using less than half. Insurance for the car is going up. I love when I ask about why are my rates so high, they blame other drivers and somehow that’s my problem. In 2017 my bill was $335. 7 years later it’s up to $634. Same vehicle, no accidents. $100 for groceries does not go very far anymore. I’m pretty sure there was a picture on Lemmy just the other day showing someone with a receipt buying the same stuff and it was like three times more now than it was just a few years ago.
Use one of those inflation calculators and between 2010 and 2024 we’re at 44%.
I still have more than two decades to go before my supposed retirement date. And I have no faith in our economy.
I’d say no. Because it’s online and attached to your account it can be lost. If for some reason you lose access to your Apple account you lose everything you’ve bought. And a lot of these online services don’t want you to share or transfer your account. So like if you pass away, most of these online services don’t allow you to transfer the account to a living relative (per of the TOS) (granted I doubt there’s much I could do to actually stop you if you just leave them out of it and just give the account to somebody).
I like them. The big shows are a rare form of artistic expression. And even the stuff you can buy, is a form of fun you cannot get anywhere else.
Drone shows are boring. You can watch them on a screen and lose none of the experience. I mean, the first time you see it it’s interesting, but then you remember it’s just a bunch of drones, and your going to be stuck in traffic just so you can see a pixilated coke can or something. There’s nothing unique or special about the experience I feel. Unlike fireworks, while they can look fine on a screen (if recorded properly) but you can see the difference on someone’s face when you’re there. You see it, feel it, and smell it. It makes sense why humans have been doing this for hundreds of years.
If that’s nightmare, what’s lemon party rank?
All the shows that I like I’ve been buying DVD or Blu-rays for, and then I rip them and put them on my Plex server. Just so I can watch some anytime, and not potentially damage the discs.
I don’t have to worry about geofencing, Don’t have to worry about a price change ever, Don’t have to deal with commercials, Don’t have to think if the shows that I like are going to disappear and maybe show up on a different provider, and generally higher quality audio and video.
I play the crap out of this game when I was a kid. What an absolute fever dream. You find bosses that are already dead, angry tempura shrimp, you want some zombies dance… You turn into a monster for some reason… Trees have faces. It’s wild. Highly recommend.
