Fucking annoying how often it’s the trauma, really.

My husband is going to have to upgrade his work computer because there’s no way it’s lasting four more years 😔
The Mayo Clinic has a good overview here that explains about the different types of fats
Hydrogenated Oil == Trans Fat
Just as a point of chemistry clarity, partially hydrogenated oils contain trans fat, fully hydrogenated oils do not. Partially hydrogenated oils are no longer GRAS by the FDA and shouldn’t be in any commercially sold foods, except the amount that occurs naturally in foods like butter.
Fully hydrogenated oils still have saturated fat so it’s not like it’s healthy, but it’s not as bad as trans fat.
Basically every country has their own sign language or an imported sign language that became standardized.
But learning any sign language will make it a lot easier for you to communicate with signers of any sign language. Not because they’re necessarily similar to each other, but because sign language varies a lot regionally anyway (and even locally depending on what method of signing you’re taught) and it will be much more natural to find ways to work around it and communicate with each other.
Just take the next step and make a text file you dump all these commands into and then forget about in a week. When you randomly stumble across it years from now you’ll be able to say “wow, I could have used this 10 months ago if I remembered it existed!”
Ideally you want to go to a shelter first, because if a shelter is dangerous or unclean you can just leave (unlike jail). If you can’t find a shelter that has space for you, the next best thing is to sleep somewhere visible but somewhat sheltered and out of the way. Church doorways are ideal since if they find you they will usually offer you help rather than call the cops on you.
If none of those avenues are available to you, hit up your local library. If they don’t outright have a social worker on staff they’ll know how to put you in contact with one and help you with applying for benefits that can at least keep you fed, and will hopefully know how to most effectively get you in line for housing.
AI making itself sick and worthless after flooding the internet with trash just gives me a warm glow.
lloviznar - to drizzle in Spanish. Also feels nice to say.
It’s short for cisgender, which is basically the opposite of transgender. Cis and trans are both Latin prefixes, meaning ‘same side of’ and ‘opposite side of.’
Number 3 drives me hair-tearing insane, I have straight up seen AI cultists say AI will fix the power grid but only if we keep pouring resources into it so that it can fix all our problems. ಠ_ಠ
They’re trying to cheat the traffic sensors to make the light turn faster. Traffic lights usually have weight sensors beneath the road to detect how much traffic is waiting on the light, and if you stop on a position further back it makes the light think there are more people waiting than there really are.
(Don’t try to do this unless you can tell where the sensors are.)
Telling myself I’ll go to the farmer’s market and then not doing it.
I know the answer to this! An ableist one!
Many chronic conditions don’t look like living in a full body cast but may be just as debilitating, which results in many people with chronic illnesses being told at various points in their lives that they should be carrying on normally because they don’t look sick.
Therapy and medication has put me in the best state I’ve been in for basically my entire life. I’m not “cured” or anything, but between the meds and processing a lot of shit in therapy I’m at least better able to cope and interrupt my own negative spirals much more easily.
I’d been doing all the self soothing, meditation, etc techniques that people recommend for decades, and it was really only after dealing with underlying issues in therapy and getting on meds that those things actually started working for me.
I was kind of mad when I realized that because for so many years I thought I just needed to git gud, but it turns out most people can’t hype themselves out of the lingering effects of childhood trauma! Who could have foreseen this 🥴
Spread a thin layer of softened butter (or mayo) on the outside of your sandwich to help it brown up. You can also use the butter as a way to add seasoning, basically any Italian seasoning mix will work well. Also lower heat as others said.
If your butter isn’t soft, stick it in the microwave on 10% power in 15 second increments.
Delicious grilled cheese is within your reach!
Get therapy if you feel there’s even a remote possibility you could benefit from it, especially if you can check anything off the adverse child experience list. The way trauma impacts you and your relationships with everyone else, and even your body, is hard to understand when it’s normal to you.
Most horror games. My startle threshold is through the floor, even when I know a jumpscare is coming it still gets me a lot of the time. I also hate feeling panicked and chased.
Come off it, not being allowed to be on your cell phone during school hours isn’t the same as KOSA.
The APA document you linked even specifically discusses the effects of social media (what do you think they’re using their phones for?) on mental health.
Wow, and I thought the guys that broke into and pissed all in the halls of our high school were going wild.
