🍿🛋️ Ok, let’s hear them.
I have friends that claim they “don’t have hobbies” but the truth is that they spend all their time with their kids and working.
So if they say, “well I don’t do much in the way of hobbies because I’m too busy working and taking care of my kids.” You can then follow up with “well what do you do for work?” Or “what’s the last vacation or outing you did with your kids?” Or “what are your kids interested in? How old are they? Tell me about their personalities.”
The fact that they “don’t have hobbies” isn’t necessarily it backfiring, you then just need to pivot based on their answers. This is just a way to break the ice with someone.
Everyone spends their days doing things, you are really just asking them “how do you spend your time?” Everyone has an answer to that…unless they are in a coma.
I mean what Discords do you participate in? What Lemmy communities do you follow? What videos on YouTube do you like to watch?
You can reframe this and say, “I like to participate in online chat forums about the latest gaming news and technology (discord). I look for cool recipes and cooking techniques (Lemmy cooking community). And I love trying to find new funny comedians to listen to (YouTube).” I think if you narrow it down to the interests you enjoy, rather than “dicking around online” you’ll find that you have interesting things to talk about.
Obviously those examples are my own, but I’m sure you use those platforms because they feed you certain content that you enjoy.
So what do you like to do for fun? Or, What are some of your hobbies?
I find these much better than “so what do you do for work?”, which is what I’m asked constantly. “Yes, person who I don’t know, let me discuss work during my free time with you.”
Fair enough, but it is a decent video guide. I had trouble finding another one that went into as much detail and was step by step
Linus has a full walkthrough video on how to set this up. I followed it and it appears to be working. I run it on my always on PC and set my address as the home for Netflix. Others have android TVs and have been using the app to check in and continue watching “while traveling”. No issues so far. If they stay connected the bandwidth will go through your network, so keep that in mind
I’m really happy for you both!
If you don’t call you’ll continue to grow distant. Be the change you want to see. Reconnect. Life is too short.
I’m excited but I’m waiting for reviews first. I have a steam deck so I’m really just looking for some screen comparisons. I miss the haptics when remote playing the PS5 on the deck
Nice! The low abxy is tricky. Personally I don’t use mine much, but it’s such a unique design that when they were discontinuing it I had to pick one up.
You can try and find an old steam controller maybe? I have one when they went on sale for dirt cheap before they discontinued manufacturing. The trackpads do have feedback like the deck but not not as good (it was the precursor after all)
Awesome! Thanks!
For Chiaki, could we add a link specifically to Chiaki4Deck? Last I checked Chiaki was in maintenance mode and wasn’t accepting edits to fix issues with trackpad swipes and some other deck specific improvements. Someone from the community forked Chiaki and made chiaki4deck, available on the discover store to remedy these issues.
Very cool! I’ll check it out! Thanks
The sources on wikipedia say it was Percy Spencer, an American self-taught engineer. He noticed a Mr. Goodbar candy bar he had in his pocket started to melt from microwaves from an active radar set he was working on. The first food deliberately cooked was popcorn, and the second was an egg, which exploded.
Here are the direct sources: https://web.archive.org/web/20110709081022/http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/history.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4h1ESUz2H3E
If you have a link to the hamster experiment I would love to read more. I might dive into a microwave research hole today! lol
Engineering is a branch of Science. Specifically, Engineering is applied science. For example, scientists discovered that microwaves existed. Engineers made them heat up your food. How did we make safer and better microwaves appliances? Engineers applied the scientific method and iterated on the design and performed tests.
To say engineering is separate from the science is incorrect.
My guess is this will be a hybrid VR headset that can play games standalone a la the quest, as well as via PC via tether or wireless.
I don’t really want a steam deck refresh if there is no performance improvement tbh.
That being said, 8"+ 1080p HDR screen with more nits would be nice. Maybe some dual stage/adaptive triggers.
Yeah, one post and links to the different comment sections below it
Limit it to corporations of a certain size then. It’s not people like your friend that are doing the bulk of the damage. It’s large corporations buying up entire neighborhoods to rent them forever.
