This is such a wild departure from real beauty pageants, which have always been known for pushing realistic beauty standards and for making normal women feel good about their bodies.
Whenever I see questions like this, I know there are going to be a lot of answers about how bad this or that jewelry is, or how traditional rings are evil or a waste of money, or whatever. Luckily I don’t see any anti-marriage replies yet. In any case it’s a good idea to not preemptively use logic and morals to override what your future wife will want and feel.
But this is the right answer. I think if you’re going to get married, it’s good to be at a point in your relationship where you’re talking about these things and you can just choose ring together, or at least discuss if she wants you to be the one who selects it, or if she doesn’t want diamonds, or how much to spend, and whatever else. You should be as confident in choosing a ring you know she’ll like as you are in marrying the person. The best way to do that is to communicate and do it together.
“if you fuck with my liberty”*
*and by liberty I mean specifically don’t talk about mass shootings during campaign season. All other liberties are fair game so don’t bother being gentle just step on me hard please I like it.
It’s just not the same…
Yes, but those policies don’t provide political cover to eliminate everyone’s encryption and privacy, so…
The marimba has left the chat.
I can charge mine when I shower and get dressed, and sometimes when I brush my teeth and feed the pets at night - about 30-60 minutes a day total. I wear it the other 23-23.5 hours, including sleep with the AutoSleep app. It sometimes gets down to 20% before charging.
If it didn’t charge so fast then it would be an issue for me.
In that case, you can make it a point to charge when the grid is “cleaner” - usually overnight. Your electricity costs may be cheaper then anyway.
The Apple Home app shows a grid forecast for your location, with cleaner times highlighted in green. I’m sure they pull this info from the utility company, so the info should be available in other smart home apps or maybe even your utility’s website.
But like others said, phone charging is very minimal. We’re talking about a 20W charger vs. say, a 1500W air fryer. Running larger appliances off-hours is a bigger deal - dishwasher, laundry, etc.
I’ll wait till it’s like $0.99-4.99.
Man fuck that girl, fuck those cops, fuck that psycho guy, fuck that small town, fuck your cell carrier. Fuck every character in this story except you. And maybe your dad.
First I would support campaign finance reform and watch 90% of the problems be solved.
Then I would tackle the other 10% by making voting more accessible - especially in primaries. Make it so accessible that even young voters bother to do it. That way people will choose younger reps more often.
So no, I wouldn’t support putting a bandaid on one issue and ignoring the root causes.
In 200 years, AI will hack it for you, but you’ll need a dozen antique dongles to get from USB-Z to A.
I feel like this is a dying gasp effort to keep the game online. I actually feel bad about it.
Elite is one of two games where I’ve ever spent money on cosmetics. I spent like $60 on paint jobs because I actually wanted to support the game.
I’m not sure what to think about this, because normally I hate “pay to win” and cosmetic shops alike. I wish Elite just had a subscription model and could support more stable servers or something. I don’t know how they expected to put an always-online game on sale for $5 all the time and keep it profitable without eventually running into a brick wall where they’d need to choose between shutting down and pissing off players.
I genuinely hope this somehow turns out to be worth it for them.
What a great way to motivate your other employees and show them that hard work is worthwhile and success is rewarded.
Some crackers have whole grain versions that taste as good or better than their white flour versions. Goldfish and Cheez-its are the two that come to mind. This doesn’t make them “healthy”, but at least there’s some better fiber in there. Compare nutrition labels.
Also try veggie chips/sticks. Again, they’re not “healthy”, but… there’s some better stuff in them than normal junk food. They are junk food with a small amount of bonus nutrition.
Freeze-dried fruit is addicting, but expensive. Try it and/or dehydrated fruit. The latter is chewy while freeze-dried is crunchy and melts in your mouth.
You can also try making your own nuggets or tenders with whole-grain panko breadcrumbs, and seasoning. The trick is to make it better than McDonald’s, which is easy for an adult, but tricky for kids. I don’t know the magic sauce though.
One of the latest Splendid Table podcasts had a guest on to talk about cooking healthy for kids (or she just wrote a book about it, I didn’t listen yet.) It’s a great show. Check that out.
You can set up a trust and have a lawyer accept it to keep you anonymous, even in public winner states. Obviously you buy the ticket when it’s at 1 billion+. Now you invest it after taxes and live off 20 mill+ yearly yield.
You start a hands off small business to launder your own legal money. This is how you explain to your family that you were able to build a small modest home at least an hour away - just far enough to be inconvenient but not impossible for family to visit. Your real home is a custom built stone castle just over the hill in your back yard. You build a tunnel connecting them in case family drops in unannounced.
Or just do the first part and fake your own death. Depends on your relationship with family and friends.

Mmm, marinated chicken with a pinch of PFAS.
Is the pear tree included? Do I get one pear tree? 12 pear trees? No pear tree? This might be a dealbreaker, so take your time answering.
