Birth control is nothing more than a form of medical technology. People against birth control and abortion(also medical technology) are Medical Luddites.

They must be afraid of losing their jobs at crisis pregnancy centers, or be afraid they won’t be allowed to shame young single mothers anymore.

I guess my pessimistic lens is a little strong and I generally don’t trust large companies to act in good faith. So maybe I’m over scrutinizing here and being a bit of a curmudgeon.

I think your perspective is fair, and it’s likely this is akin to a high school faculty dealing with some random word or idea becoming a meme of sorts and causing problems. So they have to write some new rule that sounds ridiculous or weird.

The problem is that ad revenue brings in more money than subscription models ever can. So they’re either super expensive because the company is accustomed to the high profits of ads, OR they inevitably end up slipping ads into the paids versions too.

Youtube has become this venus fly trap where content creators get exploited. They exist on the site solely to draw in viewers to show ads to. YouTube doesn’t really care about the content or their creators(they don’t care about paying them either since there’s endless accounts) their primary function is to sell ads. That’s it.

With data harvesting and personalized ads they basically print money for themselves. Now each ad spot will show something different to each person, meaning they are getting paid by multiple(potentially hundreds or thousands) of companies for each available ad location. They don’t care if you buy the product because they got paid the second that ad popped up on your screen.

Ad based revenue is creating a huge fucking mess for everyone.

They know if they do that people will just disable their cameras or put tape over it like they already do. If they make it so you can’t disable the camera without losing functionality then people won’t buy the product.

If they try to push it by making a gentleman’s agreement with their competitors to make all tvs or phones use camera eye contact during ads well have to have fight back with more ad blockers and such.

Actually a lot of organic farms rely on blood and bone meal, manure and fish emulsion fertilizers. They’re inexpensive as they’re byproducts of other industries and are very good for plants.
When I worked in an organic greenhouse I often wondered about how vegans would feel about farmers using animal based fertilizers. We definitely told people what we used, as we sold those products, but no one ever said anything about it. I guess vegans can’t control that so maybe it’s a nonissue unless they grow their own food and use seaweed based fertilizer(more expensive) instead?

Just don’t grow mushrooms or potatoes in billionaire compost. They have a tendency to uptake heavy metals from their nutrient source, and no one wants lead in their mushroom soup or mashed potatoes.

I had my last phone so long(about 5-6 years I think) that I was forced to get a new one because it was no longer supported.

I know they have to have a cut off somewhere, but around 5 years doesn’t seem like that long for a device. Maybe I’m just getting old, or planned obsolescence or something.

But yes, having that phone for a longtime prevented ewaste and saved me quite a bit of money. Be nice to your phone and it’ll go longer than the company supports it.

Gps autopilot on sail boats has been around for a long time now(not talking about windvane selfsteering) and it will keep course via the rudder, but if the wind changes it won’t shift the sails so you still have to keep watch and either change the sails, or change course to follow the wind.
If you don’t pay attention and the wind changes the sails start flapping and shit can get messy.

The point is that while car autopilot does match the definition of nautical autopilot and how it funtions(it needs human oversight) I would never expect someone who’s never gone sailing with an autopilot device being used to know how it works and that someone needs to watch it and why. It’s niche knowledge and kinda foolish to expect people to just know stuff like that.

It’s okay, that’s how I feel about the monster hunter games. Just couldn’t get into them. I also found the weird dimorphism that the monster hunter armor had off putting. I wanted my woman character to have real armor, not a bikini. I get some people like that, but it wasn’t for me.

The gameplay wasn’t as fun as I anticipated, and I can’t place my finger on why. It’s weird… I WANT to like those games but just don’t find them enjoyable.

Reddit is going to end up just being trolls arguing with bots and corporate shills… if it isn’t already. I haven’t been there in a long time, but I’m fairly confident in that assessment.

What i really wonder about is how long a site can profit off of the majority of activity coming from bots. I’m not tech savvy enough to know if the analytics can tell the difference between a bot posting and a person. How long can that go on before the site stops being profitable via ads? Will companies pay to advertise to bots? Would they even know? It’s kinda funny to think about honestly.

It’ll be really interesting to see how reddit’s downfall comes to be though.

Usually if someone was caught in video they don’t want to be in decent folks will at least blur their face, good people will blur the faces of strangers without being asked.
What corporations are doing is exploitive and downright greedy. Most of what’s been posted was done before this AI issue was even a thought.

Unfortunately dangerous men don’t wear signs around their necks. They just look like normal dudes. It’s the false positive vs false negative. A false positive results in the woman walking away and maybe an awkward moment between two people. A false negative can result in being raped and/or murdered. That’s really what it boils down to. Women just want to stay safe.
