There are many creatures in nature that warn others that they are toxic or dangerous by having bright colors, warning sounds or by wearing little red hats.

I didn’t think the MAGAs could find a stupider fashion accessory than those dumb, red hats but somehow, they found a way.

In April, a CrowdStrike update caused all Debian Linux servers in a civic tech lab to crash simultaneously and refuse to boot.

And then, you boot their servers from a Linux Live USB, run TimeShift to restore the last system snapshot, refuse the latest patch from Cloudstrike and they all lived happily ever after.

Our government was corrupted the moment the courts accepted the “Corporations are people/ Money is speech” arguments. At that moment, the government stopped representing the needs of ordinary people and only represented the needs of billionaires and their lobbyists.

It’s taking a long time to play out but it’s going to end badly.

The police accepted the software’s judgment and Ms. Hemid went home with no further protection.

This is what happens when you rely on your Nintendos, instead of using your damn brains.

And then they unveiled their, “ByteDance: We’re totally not the CCP” logo.

But seriously, Tesla “autopilot” is nothing more than a cruise control you have to keep an eye on. Which means, it’s NOT “autopilot.” This technology is not ready for the real world. Sooner or later, it’s going to cause a major, horrible accident, involving dozens or people. Musk has enough connections to avoid any real-world consequences but maybe enough people will get over their child-like worship of billionaires and stop treating him like he’s the next Bill Gates.

This is that “AI” that investors keep jerking themselves purple over.

Real “Self driving cars” will not be available in our lifetimes.

As if I needed another reason to hate Microsoft.

The point of modern “customer service” is to NOT provide customer service. If you can drag out the conversation to the point where the caller rage-quits in frustration, then the company can avoid spending any money on fixing any problems they’ve caused.

I’m seeing this on YouTube, as well. I’m interested in gaming and entertainment, but in the last couple of months, I’ve been getting absolute right-wing dipsh*ttery in my “Recommended” list.

It feels to me like YouTube is trying to rage-bait users into engaging in this trash, even when those users have shown no interest in it.

I already ditched Windows for Linux a month ago because of spyware. Everything Google-related is next. My phone is going to be the hardest thing to de-infest.

The point (which I guess I needed to point out) is that this isn’t a work of fiction, anymore. Government has been granted unprecedented power to conduct surveillance on innocent people with no warrants or accountability. Companies carry out data harvesting and location tracking in nearly every consumer product connected to the Internet. Microsoft has literally incorporated spyware into Windows 11 (CoPilot / Recall). We are living in a real life surveillance state right NOW and our government and corporations are clearly fine with it. And that’s where the “how-to” guide comes into it. That’s the BAD THING. I really didn’t think I needed to spell it out, but damn.

The only rebellion shown in the book is Goldstein’s manifesto and even that turns out to be a lie. The State invented Goldstein’s rebellion to weed out Thought criminals. And Winston fell for it.

1984 doesn’t have a happy ending, unless your idea of a happy ending is a man going insane. Oceania was always a lost cause. The point of warnings is that you’re supposed to avoid the thing they’re warning you against.

More people need to read “1984” and understand that it’s a warning, not a “how-to” guide.

There’s definitely a YouTube algorithm thing going on, too. I’ve had a lot of these right-wing dipsh*t maga channels pop up on my YouTube home screen, recently. As in, more of them showing up in the last 6-8 months than I’ve seen in years.

Good. Flash storage is everywhere now. Why go through an extra layer of proprietary hardware and DRM when you can have direct access to the video files which can be read on any platform?
