I’ve also encountered a few issues with Firefox on mobile, but not enough to stop using it as my daily driver.
I don’t really blame Firefox though, I’d guess that their implementation is closer to the spec than Chrome’s but that companies are cheaping out on testing in multiple browsers.
I’m normally in the camp that copyleft prevents enterprise adoption, and therefore limits users/contributors… but in this case I agree. I’d like browsers to be copyleft. I’d like to be able to see what kind of sketchy shit Edge and Chrome are throwing on top of Chromium and have it out in the open.
Question for the free software community…
If I used a headless version of a copyleft browser as part of an automated testing suite for proprietary enterprise software, does that violate the copyleft license?
I’ve been waiting for a sale to buy it… hopefully there are still players but if not shrug
Microsoft is confused.
It hurt itself in it’s confusion.
Thanks for hosting, don’t work too hard!
One of my cats will headbutt me if I say “headbutt”, he’s like a pokemon or something. Hard enough that I can hear a thunk.
Two that I watched on Netflix a while back:
The Untold History of the United States - good overview of US history with an emphasis on conservatives fucking us over and liberals not really doing a whole lot about it
Winter on Fire - striking footage of the Maidan revolution in Ukraine prior to the invasion of Crimea
Picked up Talos Principle 1 and 2 for 20$. Really enjoying the first one so far. It’s like Portal but more serious, makes you feel really clever, lots of “outside the box” thinking.
I use Slack for personal projects and Teams for work. I think both are fine. The main reason it made sense to use Teams at work was because there were a number of products in use by different teams. IT had Slack and the rest had Zoom. Zoom was raising their costs and we already had Teams as part of 0365. So it was either buy Slack licenses for the entire company or just get everyone on Teams. It was kind of a no-brainer and it was hard to come up with a convincing argument to pay for Slack for everyone other than “Microsoft bad”.
In addition, the company doesn’t invest in growing and retaining the rest of the development team for 20 years until said developer is near retirement, then finds that they need to hire 10 developers because 2 need to replace said person and 8 need to redo everything they did.
It’s been nearly 10 years since you needed to develop with C# on Windows.
New versions of .NET have been cross platform with a free IDE since 2016.
I find it’s easier to explain this to people as “Southern conservatives used to vote Democrat, now they vote Republican”.
Bought it for Xbox One and was disappointed, never got into it. Last year got a new gaming PC and picked it up on sale and playing it in 4k on high and the graphics are sick and now that I’ve figured out the combat I like it a lot. There’s lots to love about the game, but the story just isn’t great, doesn’t really suck me in that much.
What helped for me was to just focus on consistency of activity first and foremost. Making sure I have a consistent 1hr a day fitness plan that I don’t hate, and use a fitness watch to look at streaks over time so you don’t want to break them. For me upper/lower splits every other day helped make sure I get enough core/legs in because I was always skipping leg day. I try to do the major compound movements and supplement with additional stuff if there is time… Pushups, pullups, squats, deadlifts. I’ve also been doing intervals on the exercise bike so 3 min of bike for every 7 minutes of lifting
I started to see results after a few months, but it’s only recently that I’ve started to pay more attention to what I’m eating. I think it’s good to get the consistent activity down first before you worry about cutting and calorie deficits. That way whatever you’re doing, mentally you know you can do it even if you feel more physically fatigued.
I also didn’t realize just how much protein I really needed, didn’t see much in the way of results until I started to eat around .8g protein per pound of body weight. Chicken, salmon, low-fat Greek yogurt, egg whites, and some protein bars/shakes… I found it wasn’t that hard to stay around 2000 calories and still eat 160+ g of protein.
I’m probably going to eventually get a fitness and nutrition coach because my health insurance will likely cover it, just to have additional confidence in what I’m doing.
Ah yes, my last company bought into that crap. They called it RPA for Robotic Process Automation and they also used it to access internal apps that we had full control of.
It wouldn’t have been so bad if they just used it to enter data into third party websites which had no APIs or integrations.
At one point we updated the title of an HTML page and we had to revert the change because the RPA team said it would be a three week turnaround to fix their script.
I noped out of there not long after, it was yet another “project management driven” company where managers and project managers were repeatedly duped by vendors and outsourcing firms instead of hiring and retaining developers.
I’m using this one and like it. Chairs in a similar price range from Staples just didn’t have all the right adjustments that this one has.
I don’t regret the $20 I spent on Dyson Sphere Program, spent more time enjoying that than I have playing most of my library of supposedly “finished” games.
I’m not planning on being able to have an IT job in my old age. Seems likely that ageism or economic factors will conspire to make sure I can’t. I’m planning on possibly involuntary retirement in my 50s.
The charging team thing seems like pretty standard power trip behavior from an exec, not that it’s good… seems like the plan is to hire some of those people back and continue to invest in charging infrastructure.
What seems really braindead to me is the Cybertruck… they could have made a normal mid-size pickup and been absolutely killing it right now. I probably would have already bought one despite my opinion of Musk.
