The only disadvantage of display port that I can think of is that it’s harder to find capture devices (or at least Linux compatible ones) that have display port. Generally no one cares about that stuff though. I use capture cards because I sometimes do stuff involving other computers and it’s 1000 times more convenient to have a vlc window floating around with the display output.

No one seems to have this use case besides me, I’m just glad that there exist capture cards fast enough to do playback in real-time and not a 5 second delay. I don’t stream.

I don’t really subscribe to the whole if civilization collaspes there will be no technology in anyone’s lifetime again thing. You aren’t going to go back to ordering shit off amazon from your smartphone or anything. However the knowledge that things like refrigeration, radio transmission, internal combustion engines, water treatment and such are possible is going to drive people to eventually find out how to get it by any means necessary.

How quickly this happens is a question of whether the majority of people adopt a “technology is too dangerous/a sin against God” idealogy or not.

It was too “easy” for regular users to get upvotes and too hard for bots to get upvotes probably. Certain comments and posts now have downvote caps of 0 points so depending on what agenda a comment supports, it may not be possible to downvote into negative numbers.

As a rule of thumb, anything you say is getting downvoted but if someone else posts the same thing, it gets highly upvoted. Reddit is cancer.

Huh, I thought you were supposed to use -sri. I hate dealing with the AUR, that stuff doesn’t work half the time. I’m sure there are reasons for making it annoying like that but I haven’t really put much thought into it before. I’d like to think making the AUR a pain in the ass makes things less likely to break, and hopefully that’s not just because you’re less likely to install AUR packages.

Fuck the regulations. I already downloaded all the models and I ain’t deleting them.

Best I can do is make an elf that mostly works and the memory manager seems pretty solid but the second you start doing stuff with strings, it fucks all up and I never figured out that bug after months so it is what it is. If you want to print a string you have to drop into real mode first.

That’s nothing an angle grinder, some scrap sheet metal and a tap and die set can’t fix. I fit a stupid amount of watercooling into a really shitty case one time doing this.

I don’t really subscribe to Arch or Debian being better or worse than each other. I encounter issues just as frequently on both. Maybe it’s a little harder to do things in Debian because the repositories don’t update as often but the AUR is where a lot of important stuff is and that’s a pain to deal with too.

Either way it’s better than using Windows.

I thought I never used it until my right shift key stopped working. I then found out that I use that thing a lot actually.

This. Fucking this. Wobbling windows were around in the early days of Ubuntu’s existence which was a long ass time ago and it was probably possible to get them even before that. Surely they’ve figured out a good way to make them work without fucking up your entire system by now.

Eh, updates still break things on Debian just like on Arch. It may happen less often but when you do run into problems, you’re completely screwed. I updated to Debian 12 like a year ago and still haven’t fixed all the issues because it’s a server and reinstalling the entire OS is completely out of the question and a beyond reasonable amount of work. On Arch, stuff breaks more often but the saving grace is that everything breaks often enough that you can count on there being an up to date wiki page for whatever problems you run into. On Debian if something semi obscure breaks, that feature is gone for good if you hate format and reinstalls.

Tbf, I did eventually get everything except zoneminder (and the ability to automatically reconnect to wifi when it loses connection WITHOUT HUMAN INTERVENTION) working again on my Debian server but the fact is it 100% worked before the update.

I gave up on paying attention to Xboxes when they started calling them such stupid fucking shit like “Xbox x series sx”. Now you have to be really familiar with Xbox lore to even figure out what the latest current one is.

That’s probably why they named the Xbox One the Xbox One all those years ago. Whenever people googled how to mod an Xbox One to play pirated games, they would keep finding original Xbox crap instead since everyone up until that point called it “Xbox 1”.
