@festus where is this offline installer, exactly? Link? I just get hit with the gog new launcher option being advertised on the site.

@festus @headmetwall how do you make sure that when you load up a gog game that it does not launch the gog launcher? What are the steps?
@XenoStare @headmetwall that’s right. Steam is a business. They are not really for open source. Open source, is still a business model. It’s not public domain or libre software. Then can always make their stuff closed source at anytime. Just need to gather free work from the community and to elevate its private business. Still, there are articles detailing Valve as anti-consumer. It’s a search bar away.
@TWeaK I’m a little confused about the overall post and the UK position since we are talking about an American company but yes, alternative business models are needed. Thank you for contributing.
@Fubarberry That’s a bold strategy, cotton. Let see if it pays off.
@PM_ME_FEET_PICS @njinx yes! This is why that we really need to start pushing for alternative gaming business methods. Itch.io is great for this. Better than gog in my eyes for really bringing forth gaming space to a more democratic and DRM free space. The mission needs to include more open source, libre software and we need to support that. Gamers making their games their way and not trusting third or fourth parties to get them there.
@TWeaK @LoafyLemon it’s not a co-op. Still, that would be an interesting business model in the gaming space. I think people would be down to support something really alternative. I’m tired of MS and apple and all these business that are still stuck in old school business mindset.
@MJBrune @DoucheBagMcSwag Standalone? The cool thing to do is build an ecosystem now. Thank you, apple :/. So, you can’t just have one item, you got to get the accessories and other items. Is this the future of Linux?
@SamboT @Edgelord_Of_Tomorrow apple is going to buy valve and Sony and capcom.
@WarmSoda there’s nothing more powerful than imagination (and dreams).
@HughJanus what did you get today?
@Lettuceeatlettuce @notnotmike what do you mean?
@SkyeStarfall @xkforce how do you know this?
@OfficialThunderbolt have you tried running windows games on Mac? Like a typical windows game on steam or something?
@HughJanus @greenskye I agree that gog is not supportive of games running on Linux unless that game is already a Linux game. Funny enough, said games may even be playable on Linux but gog will just have the windows port of that game on gog (Alien Isolation for example). So, I agree, if you are on Linux and use steam, then it’s clear to use steam like an iPhone user using Apple Music. It just works.this is where I say that steam should be more open so drm games on steam don’t need steam launcher
@netchami @XenoStare I feel like devs who make games for windows and apple should use the open source tools to port their games to Linux, I.e steam. There needs to be some formate where we can play games on the deck that are deck compatible without steam. Hell, without heroic, too.
