I agree in that it’ll be hard to transfer between platforms, but doubt it’s impossible. The idea is that you don’t want Valve to nuke your licenses in one go, but Valve also doesn’t want you on their platform.

I don’t think resellable licenses are a great idea. It works with physical media because it will have flaws that affect quality and price, but I don’t see how that would work for digital without screwing over devs. I can completely get behind transfers or trades with friends or between platforms, but not really for resale.

The way I see it, Steam having DRM is Valve’s way of giving publishers and devs that choice, and said choice just makes Steam more likely to stick around for the future, which makes the biggest drawback of DRM (losing all your games) less likely.

It isn’t bash, it’s Linux that’s well-embedded with the rest of Windows. You can get most Linux stuff working reasonably well, and you can even get a working GUI of some distros.

In Texas, it’s pretty easy if you fit within the criteria and you do it early. You apply for a ballot, get it, fill it out, and send it back. As long as the USPS does their job (which on 1 occasion for me, they didn’t), it works out.

The US Federal government no longer protects reproductive freedoms like they did a few years ago, so some states have been cracking down on procedures like abortion and using data from places like Facebook to gather evidence. Depending on the state, having this data might lead to legal headache, but I’m not sure how likely that is.

It’s the same reason why the fed controls interest rates. Entities higher up the chain deal with those volatile costs so we don’t have to.

When most people say “free software”, they’re talking about software that’s free as in freedom. Using it otherwise just causes unnecessary confusion.

If by “most people” you mean the general population, you are absolutely wrong. Hell, even software devs (at least in the US) would fight with you unless they themselves are interested in FOSS.

When the average Joe pays nothing for an item that they want, regardless of whether that item can be modified, they will say that the item is free. To your average Joe, software is yet another item.

If you mean app compatibility, the only programs that will have issues are those needing AVX2

I used to use a Macbook daily before I got a Windows laptop.

The way Apple designs their products is akin to how parents treat their toddlers. You aren’t allowed to do anything that Apple hasn’t graciously allowed you to without painful workarounds or loopholes. Plus, whereas Android and Windows have janky solutions that still work, Apple refuses to implement something unless the masses can use it. The result is that Apple’s software is years behind, and there is very little you can do about it.

Needless to say, after a few years, I just installed Windows on that Macbook, and eventually I got fed up with the bad drivers and got an HP Spectre instead.
