I imagine there was a time when this wasn’t obscure, but I’m guessing people today don’t remember Caldera OpenLinux. That was the first Linux distro I installed/used. A guy from church gave his copy.
Caldera eventually became SCO. But I’m pretty sure I was using Caldera OpenLinux before the whole Novell patent suit thing.

There’s a linguistics professor at MIT who I once heard say in a class (an Open Courseware class… I didn’t attend MIT or anything):

However you want to say it, say it. Your particular style of speech is unique and beautiful and you should keep speaking that way.
I personally would pronounce it like “Travises”. As if pluralizing it. (“There are multiple Travises in the phone book.”) Makes it fairly clear. I guess that brings up the question what to do if there are multiple Travises who co-own something. “The Travises’ shared given name.” I think off the top of my head, I’d probably pronounce it like “Traviseses.” Cool!

But maybe the bacillus thuringiensis toxin? Bacillus thuringiensis is a bacterium that produces a natural pesticide that I’ve heard (again, not a doctor, don’t take anything I say as medical advice) doesn’t affect vertibrates. But mosquitos aren’t vertibrates. So, (again, not an expert and this may be bullshit) maybe that means it’s safe for humans to use.
But what do I mean by “use”? I’m guessing it might (not a doctor) be safe to use on the skin (if it could be obtained in medical-grade quality – but I’m not an expert).
But I kindof doubt (though I could be wrong) that eating bacillus thurengiensis or the actual toxin would work. The toxin is (I believe, just from reading the bacillus thuringiensis Wikipedia page) a protein, and I don’t think (ɹoʇɔop ɐ ʇou ɯɐ I) consumed proteins are likely to get into the bloodstream. (And if they did, I suspect (though I am not a doctor) that would cause you some problems, or at least an immune response and some inflamation or some such.)
I do wonder how frequent it is that an individual developer will raise an important issue and be told by management it’s not an issue.
I know of at least one time when that’s happened to me. And other times where it’s just common knowledge that the central bureaucracy is so viscous that there’s no chance of getting such-and-such important thing addressed within the next 15 years is unlikely. And so no one even bothers to raise the issue.

Maybe not quite the answer to the question you asked, but I have a relevant story.
My very favorite YouTuber is named “Any Austin”. (Just stay with me here.) And he has a show called “VG Wham” in which he goes to some e-store for video games (the Switch eStore, the PlayStation e-store, Steam, whatever) and purchases a game priced $2 or under and plays/reviews it.
Fully expecting it to be terrible, mind you. He does honestly review the games and gives his thoughts about them, but it’s still mostly comedy content. Not generally the sort of show you’d watch to find good games to potentially buy and enjoy.
But one game in particular he clearly loved was “Radiation Island” by a studio called “Atypical Games.” The episode of VG Wham in question is here. But he loved this particular game so much he streamed a full playthrough that itself is a masterpiece. And throughout he constantly flip flops from deriding it ot praising it to praising it ironically. It’s like nothing else I’ve ever seen.
And the game itself makes zero sense, it’s absolute purchased assets trash, kindof minimum viable product as a game, really just churned out in about 5 minutes for a buck. And it’s evident from Any Austin’s stream.
I rewatched that stream just recently and decided to go ahead and purchase the game. I’d seen it played, but didn’t really know what it would be like to play it myself. I really didn’t know whether it was going to be crap or awesome.
If anyone else picks it up, I highly recommend the hardest difficulty.
I haven’t yet played the sequel “Radiation City.” Any Austin streamed it, but didn’t like it as much. I bought a copy and intend to play it at some point, but I haven’t started it yet.

I’d just like to interject for a moment. What you’re refering to as WSL, is in fact, GNU/WSL, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus WSL. WSL is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU/Windows system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Same for me. I can watch YouTube (except for the “mature” content that they’ve required login for for forever) without logging in just fine.

So did we (almost) all. Maybe not as recently as you, but I think most of us (including me) are former Redditors. I personally left Reddit when they pulled that bullshit with the API prices.

I’m using Firefox on Arch Linux on a Raspberry Pi. So it should work just like on any Windows or Mac desktop or laptop.
