“once you’re paired up, you’re going to delete your account” woah woah woah, I never said that.
YouTube recommended this video, and based on the thumbnail alone it looked like sensationalist garbage. I didn’t watch it. I think it’s because i watched a single video about “de-googling” and now the algorithm dives straight into the rage-bait deep-end of that topic.
Then it will go out of fashion again, and teeth will be the new tribal tattoo that people are stuck with, and the following generation will be all about smooth gums.
Imagine junkies of this drug would look like tarkatans.
Governments told kids they shouldn’t use it. So it naturally became more popular.
They still will.
From the thumbnail i thought the phone was wearing a puffy jacket.
But there is the possibility they could capture almost the whole small phone market, instead of competing against titans for a piece of the big phone market. I also don’t see how this is not still a big market that is being ignored. So many random trash phones that must be getting pitiful sales numbers, but they can’t make anything in a small size, like they used to do in huge numbers just half a decade ago?
I get that the Mini might not reach numbers acceptable for Apple, but for some random Android manufacturers, those same numbers would be huge, and they have basically no competition right now. The first company to offer something decent in that size bracket would have that whole market to themselves.
But no, i think they all just dream that they might beat Google and Samsung for the same 6.3-6.8" market and be rich.
Would be great if they could instead move the whole physical top of the screen closer to my thumb for the next Pixels.
Is there any chance it’s a compact (<6") size?
I can’t sideload, but looking forward to trying the Play Store release eventually!
Is there an extension to bring the tab bar back for Android tablets? Otherwise nothing interesting for me.
I agree with the article, but i hate the way the author just admits defeat at the end. “I hate everything about it! But i won’t realistically leave. And actually you can keep doing it all, just let me hide hotels pretty please”. Ugh.
I can’t claim I’ve managed anything more, beyond periodically re-testing the alternatives, but i just hate to see it written., Feels like it undermines the whole argument when they make clear that Google will see no consequence.
The biggest hurdle for me, is that many businesses and other points of interest are missing in the alternatives. And if not missing, then useful data like opening hours, reviews, etc aren’t there.
But i hate every moment i spend in Google Maps due to the advertising and bad UX, and I will jump ship as soon as something comes even close (on Android).
I hope it comes to the Play store at some point
If you implant it in your body by accident, titanium is biocompatible.
Permanently attached to the end of the cable, not the phone.
You don’t need new headphones though, just the usb-c adaptor, which you can leave permanently attached to the cable (if you only use them with your phone/laptop).
I feel like some people just hear “crypto” or “ai” and start screeching and clawing at the air.
Not every feature needs to be for you specifically, these features are optional and don’t compromise or even impact their other products. They seem to be on-brand in being more privacy-focused alternatives to some of the existing market options while remaining accessible, and keeps Proton in the game depending on how the landscape develops.
I don’t use Proton (yet) but I generally like what they’re doing and hope they succeed, and I don’t see any of these developments as negatives, just more competition.
