You think Americans can’t change, just look at German Automakers. They are stuck in Perpetual denial. VW only moved electric because of the massive diesel scandal, otherwise they also would have been like every other car manufacturer.

I am already running Snapraid and machines do spindown after sometime, but it’s still around 50w.
Thank you, this is what I am thinking too. I don’t wanna create e-waste, and apart from power consumption, the nas is very handy performance wise and tackles all load.
Thank you, this is what I needed to know. I thought n100 (similar to what dedicated nas has 6-10w) would bring power down considerably, and thanks to you, I now know it’s not the case.
I actually have an extension cord with IoT chip. Can measure power consumption via home assistant.
Ram is definitely abysmal on Qnap, so it’s one reason for hesitation. But I wanted to get some idea how much power saving is possible on dedicated NAS. If it’s not much, I would rather keep my PC.
It’s 6th gen i5 processor with gigabyte motherboard. And Qnap is ts-531x.
Rural usually means Hillbillies.
windows 11 is 3 times faster than windows 10
Yes, it’s true. It took me 3 times as fast to know that it’s shit.
don’t hold your breath
Thanks for setting expectations
Yeah, give terminators Neo like abilities
Same. After 20 years of distro hopping and living on latest releases, Debian feels like home with the least amount of broken packages and general overall panic.
NixOS … loved the idea but doing configuration all the time for every little thing became too much of a headache.
Ubuntu with KDE = Kubuntu
Ubuntu with LXDE/LXQT = Lubuntu
Ubuntu with XFCE = Xubuntu
Ubuntu with Gnome … Where is Gubuntu?
Damn. In the old days, I would have yanked the power cable out, but I probably wouldn’t remember powering off the laptop either. Kudos for posting about it though.
Proud of you man. Growing up didn’t have dad around, so I remember being embarrassed when my school mates were talking about shaving. Then out of the blue, one of my uncles gifted me this gift pack of razors, and went on to explain how to do it. Also explained why you need to separate razors for pubic hair from other uses anywhere else.
