Can Lemmy be searched effectively?
That’s why FOSS ends up forking and forking
I’ve seen both indians and Pakistanis complain about how it was done but they also admit there was no way to do it cleanly and the religious differences would eventually spill over politics and cause the territory of India/Pakistan to be as unstable as the middle east
I say let him do that and then let congress legislate this once the grim details of how the human subjects died creates a scandal and political unity across the aisle. It’s the American Way®
This is to force users to use cloud solutions and lock users in the apple ecosystem
Oh they will fuck it. No doubt. Especially since charging wattage is controlled by software. Dell already does this thing with their laptops as 100W charging voltage over USB C is only available through Dell chargers
Dark mode issues hahahahaha
That was not the UNIX way… True UNIX way would end silently and have zero as $?
bon… désolé
The way the Lemmy version of r/place would look like would depend on which other servers your server is federated with. It’s a very postmodern approach where there is no single view of the thing for everyone
Thanks for reminding me of this masterpiece of writing about management of social networks
People point fingers at Meta for “allowing” this but there’s no amount of money that can reasonably moderate 3 b-b-billion users.
This is a prime use case for AI technology
Twitter and Instagram are also escort hookup sites
I mean, there is no perfect base. But the 1/3=0.333… thing is to be understood as a representation of that 1 split three ways
I hate packing because I have to make many decisions and remember of previous packing experiences where I used less than half of the clothes, so I keep rearranging until last minute.
Anyway, this time I had an intense two weeks at work preparing things before I went on my holiday. I had to wake up at 4:45am to go into the airport but the last time I messed up with the bags was 1:30am on the same day. “No biggie” I thought, and I set the alarm for 4:45 and slept.
When I wake up, the first thing I remember thinking was “damn, that was a nice, deep sleep. I feel good”. The sun was shining gently through the curtains and it felt like a great Saturday morning A few seconds later I realize something was off. I reach my phone and look at the time: something past 11am.
Long story short I had to buy an one way ticket and luckily there was another flight on the afternoon.
The aftermath: I don’t trust my mobile phone to wake me up. I set two separate alarms to wake me up if I have one of those very early morning flights. If I am in a hotel, I also request two separate wake up calls, just to be sure.
I once got a used dye sublimation printer because it was cool until I had to replenish the toner-like stuff. Shit’s expensive
Not more, necessarily, but definitely more exposed as smaller servers won’t have legal and regulatory compliance teams supporting them
Another way to think about this is that those projects that have a more structured approach to documentation have a better chance at lasting longer, attracting more contributors, and making more lasting impacts
