Jesus, read the room, man.

At this point, it could still go either way. Make no mistake, we’ve already done, and will continue to do, profound damage to the environment and global climate that will take generations to reverse (if that’s even possible). That said, I think it’s going to need to get seriously worse before the world’s largest polluters have no choice but to go against the monied interests in fossil fuels and plastics. Like many very wealthy people are going to have to be directly affected by this is always that can’t be disingenuously explained away.
I’ve looked at Hue, but didn’t see any outdoor rated flood lights in their line up. Perhaps I’m just blind.
I have looked at the wi-fi. They’re locked to 2.4 GHz, but I can’t change the channel on the Deco mesh that I have. It scans the network and selects what it thinks is the best. According to my signal scanner, it’s not in the best channel, but it’s not in the worst, either. Plus, the same scanner says the lights should be getting an excellent signal where they are in relation to the AP.
Grip6 belts. Waited awhile until they had a Father’s Day sale a year ago to buy a simple black one with a honeycomb buckle. That thing is now my everyday belt. I now have 3 belts, 4 buckles, and have 3 more belt/buckle coming from Prime Day.
Not saying to not have fun while you’re young. By all means, go for it. Just pointing out that a small amount of savings when you’re young pays off much more over time. If you wait, you’ll spend your later years catching up!
I have two that I always say:
Take care of your teeth. They’re the only set you get. Also they don’t tell you this when you’re young, but all dental care is either preventative or reactionary. They can’t actually “fix” problems. If you have a cavity, that starts you down a road that ends with a crown or implant. Use any dental insurance you have religiously, pay for a good toothbrush (Oral-B or SoniCare), learn to floss properly and do it all every single day.
Second, save now as much as you are able. If you can adhere to it, look into the 50-30-20 rule. One thing it took me too long to learn is, given an otherwise living income, you won’t miss money you don’t see. When savings is automatically deposited from your paycheck, it’s out of sight and mind.
Lastly, just be yourself, and be a good person to those around you.
To my step-kids, it’s all “WiFi.” Even on their phone driving down the highway, I’ll hear, “this WiFi sucks!”
Ah shit. That was weird. This post was near the casual conversation sub. Sorry about that.
ETA: thanks for the upvote to whoever appreciated my lack of sanity!
This is what I came here for. Like you said, the rule is about how you treat others, and intentionally doesn’t account for how others treat you. As was already said, lots of religions have similar rules. They also have parallels to “lead by example,” “turn the other cheek,” “vengeance is mine, sayeth the Lord,” “judge not lest ye be judged.” All of these are guidelines for community cooperation and fellowship. There will always be people who go against them, but if the overall community adheres to them it’s generally in a better position to be stable and succeed.

For me it’s between three. Atari 2600 b/c it’s the OG. NES & PS2 b/c in their respective times they were so incredibly ubiquitous and were in use for such long intervals of time.
Never liked coffee. I usually drink Yorkshire tea in the morning, but sometimes mix it up with other black teas. If I drink any during the day, it’s green tea. Evenings are for herbal teas if I have any.
Seems like a lot of responses think a movie needs a twist to be thought provoking. Not saying they’re wrong, but what about things that make you think about how screwed we are like “The Big Short” or “The Laundromat?” Movies like “Schindler’s List” make you think about human capacity for evil and compassion. “Blade Runner” brings up questions of what makes you a human.
Make no mistake, all the “twist” movies mentioned so far are great. Just trying to introduce another thread to the discussion.
This is the best answer IMO. There’s no counter because Project 2025 is one part party platform (which the Democratic Party will vote on its own at the convention), and one part formula to remake the executive branch to prop up the president as a dictator. Technically, the counter to the second part would be the Constitution, existing (read: not yet gutted by the current SCOTUS) legal precedent, and existing federal law.
So I do HPC installations, and using Mellanox/NVIDIA adapters in Ethernet mode absolutely sucks. First, when you initially install them, they’re named something like ens2f0, where “2” generally corresponds to the PCI slot. Pretty easy, until you install MOFED. Yeah, I know you don’t need MOFED, but the drivers included in RHEL are waaay old. Anyway, after installing the newer drivers, that exact same interface becomes ens2f0np0!
What’s even better is there’s no guarantee that a PCI Ethernet card in PCI slot 2 will be “ens2…” which I would argue is predictive!
I don’t have kids of my own, but through my time with my step-kids, I’ve learned I would’ve loved to have one or two. I totally understand people who don’t want kids. They can be a huge, expensive hassle. But I feel like I’ve gotten so much more back from them than it ever cost me. Plus they gave me this cup that I drink from every morning.
Awhile back, I got a bookbub deal alert email about a series called the Lattice Trilogy. When I read the synopsis, I wasn’t sure I’d buy the premise: a future where privacy simply doesn’t exist. Still, out of curiosity and an extremely low price, I gave it a read. Wound up reading all three books. Since then, I’ve been watching privacy die in much less sci-fi-y circumstances.
One hopes.
Being from FL, I’m a snob about FL oranges. Particularly navels and blood varieties. California oranges can fuck right off.
