I started using Discord in 2015 and around 2019 uninstalled it in favor of using it exclusively through a web browser (blocking as much of it’s nonsense as possible). Discord takes too many resources hostage if anyone in your server is streaming something, even if you’re not watching it. I don’t have that issue when using Element (Matrix), Jitsi or any of Steam’s broadcasting tools. The only reason I haven’t deleted my Discord account yet is because some people I hold dear are incapable of trying something better nowadays (even when they already have it installed as is the case of Steam).

I’ll need some time to find where to migrate, if at all. Lemm.ee was very well managed and I would’ve gladly volunteered to help out. My bad for not paying closer attention sooner.

When you choose to forgive someone you’re not necessarily forgiving their mistake. It’s not condoning, it’s giving someone another chance to do better. Forgiving and protecting against risks isn’t mutually exclusive, it just takes more effort to do both.

Keep up the good work, it’s always good to have alternatives. But please at least fix the link in your post, it’s giving a bad first impression.

I was referring to other services requiring specific propietary authenticator apps. Many sites will be compatible with Aegis even if they don’t mention apps other than their own in their step-by-step guide. Have you tried? If it isn’t compatible through scan or manual code input the 2FA setup simply won’t finish.

Las time I checked those that require a Microsoft or other propietary authenticator app that isn’t Google’s. They would force you to first use that propietary app and later export to Aegis. Correct me if I’m wrong, of course.

Aegis, even if some services won’t support it you’re better off not supporting those services.
