At least it’s not a big volume and with the electric ventilation in the door frame, the air should recycle quickly. We will have a couple of CPU fans (or similar), with an airflow of up to 120 m³ per hour, it shouldn’t be too hard to refresh the complete volume of the building. Good call, will do! A building permit wasn’t required as it its volume is below 40 cubic meters. You only need a building permit if it’s bigger, or if you install running water / heating / a toilet (basically if it’s “livable”)

Right now, we just have to fill the 30cm wide gap at the back and navigate between our neighbor’s plants, we’ll be done this week, it’s not really worth getting a small excavator just for that job.

The plan is to completely fill the slope up to the entrance, and dress it with granite boulders. We will then need a much bigger excavator to move that around, at least 4 to 6 tons. We found a guy who can come on his free time with his own excavator, definitely getting work done with him for the bigger earthworks.

yeah it’s purpose built for our space, until last winter, we had no idea what to do with that corner, it felt like it was pretty much useless space.

We will also have a small ventilation installed into the door frame to push in cold air at night on hot days, and evacuate excess humidity through the vent at the back.

It feels a bit sluggish as online content always seem to fit neatly in a 2 minute timelapse with upbeat music, the reality is less glamorous. But it’s the opportunity to hone problem solving skills and also maybe get in better physical shape, many upsides!

This is a provision of the article 6 of the GDPR, which describes very broadly that you have to justify your legitimate interest with a fair reason to process user data. It is mostly there to allow for IT security, fraud prevention, but also marketing.

My understanding is that you have the choice between the following modes :

• Consent = you allow for personalized data collection and ads integration can make use of any tracking information saved in your browser and on the servers of the third party provides
• Legitimate interest = you allow for data collection without personalization, but the provider might still be context aware and provide for example ads based on broad information like your country, language etc
• Nothing = you refuse any processing and connection to a third party server

They’re also in Germany now, as mandated in every EU country, but I don’t have to deal with them because there’s also a heavy culture of reusable glass bottles (Mehrweg Flaschen) distributed in standard reusable crates. Everything has a deposit so you always bring them back when refilling.

I don’t mind them either but get yourself cheap cable pliers and cut the tether when you need to, or pour into a cup instead of drinking from the bottle.

I’m in Germany yes, that’s a good idea, thank you. The person who sold us the bricks took them out of a building in a village near Karlsruhe, he might know more about the story of that place, we definitely plan on sending him pictures of our construction and we shall ask if he knows more.
