11 months agoThe Selfish Gene changed the way I see life itself. That and The Blind Watchmaker. I also love Unweaving the Rainbow.

I switched from Niagara to KISS launcher and I’m really happy with it. Much better, IMO.

11·11 months agoMy mindset is that, if they make me work so hard to be private, I’m gonna do all in my power to make sure they work even harder to get my data.
I use Notesnook and find it great! Also check out Cryptee, if you’re ok with web apps.

Get a pyhole. No more ads (or devices phoning home) in your home network.
For the laptop, it already exists. Just get a used base 13" m1 macbook air and install Linux on it. Solid build. Ultra portable. Best-in-class trackpad. Good keyboard. Inexpensive-ish. More than enough performance for what you want and great battery life.

Definitely. As a total layman in this kind of stuff, I believe I’ve read The Selfish Gene first, but at the time I was so eager to consume as much knowledge as possible in this subject, that I could maybe be misremembering all the effort and research it took for me to understand it. It’s a fascinating book, but more specific.
Imo, Unweaving the Rainbow has a much broader appeal and is much easier reading. They’re both very different books.

Also switched distros from pop. I’ve had more success with Ultramarine than with Nobara on my nvidia-powered laptop. Check it out if Nobara gives you problems.
