    Not all fish can breath underwater interestingly enough, meaning if they can’t reach air they will drown. The first example that comes to mind are lungfish, but there are others, such as arapima. I think bettas also are obligate air breathers, but I might be misremembering.

      What fucks me up is the fish that can’t draw water through their gills manually and can only survive by constantly being in motion

        Imagine we couldn’t actively breathe but instead got all out air by running into the air to force it into your lungs

        Sounds terrifying, how do they sleep?

          Their brains evolved to put different parts of itself to sleep at a time.

          Iirc sharks put one half of their brain to sleep at a time. Though that might be dolphins I honestly don’t remember.

          Hell it might even be both my brain is a tangled ball of yarn lmao
