I’ll just ask: is it in the realm of possibillity that a cruel parent takes out a plan on the kid in the hopes they can make the kid so miserable and terified that if the live they get child support but if the kid kills themself they get a pile of money for the trouble?

I need to know what it could mean. This is Canada. Thank you, its ok im out now but in my personal work, this tidbit has surfaced.

Be gentle please

Anything’s possible, but if you really want to make money off a life insurance policy, you need to insure someone who has a high-paying job. The actuarial value of the insured’s life depends on the income they’re deprived of when they die. Children don’t have jobs, so their actuarial value is pretty low.

Ya but she probably viewed child support that way. HER “income”, basically wife support even though its not alimony and she used it basically all on herself, even when not providing housing and everything else
