I have seen in many US shows where they portray guys who are living with parents as losers, or there are jokes or memes about it, I never get it.

If both people in a marriage have very specialized jobs it’s hard enough to find two jobs in the same city. Imagine doing this with two or three generations of people.

What about uncles and aunts? Grandparents don’t just have one family to take care of. Also when I was born my grandparents were still working a long time, and now I have a son and his grandparents will be working for 15+years at least. I could never ever get my parents to move closer to me. Also they would have to abandon my siblings who live closer to them.

Not if you have a bery specialized job, or a job that requires moving. Think about doing a PHD, or even just being a teacher in germany the state will sort you into a school. You cannot not pick a city as a teacher, just give 3(?) preferences.
