IIRC there’s an ongoing dispute between the British Indian Ocean Territory government and the British company that manages the .io zone. If the former wins the dispute there may well be changes.

.Doubt they will. It’s used for way less illegal shit then .ml was. And, for most domain names, a .io is really fucking pricy (2x +)

A similar thing happened to Notion, with their .so domain. The issue was then resolved, but the whole service went offline for a while
