Being pro-Dessalines also underlines “tankie” mindset. Dessalines was an utter tyrant who declared himself emporer but his subjects weren’t slaves and everyone opposing him wanted to re-enslave them. Sure Toussaint Louverture would’ve been ideal but Napoleon rejected him so he failed. Its all strictly “lesser of two evils” mindset.
