Atari have announced the Atari 2600+ will release in the USA in November for $129.99. International availability will be announced soon.
The console is a recreation of the original Atari 2600 but at 80% of the size of the original and will be compatible with all 2600 and 7800 cartridges.
The console also includes a new wired joystick designed to look and feel just like the original.
For connecting to modern TV the 2600+ sports a HDMI port with widescreen support.
The console will come with a 10-in-one cartridge containing

Combat
Dodge ‘Em
Haunted House
Maze Craze
Missile Command
RealSports
Volleyball, Surround
Video Pinball
Yars’ Revenge
Powering the console is a Rockchip 3128 SOC with 256MB DDR3 RAM and 256MB eMMC storage.

This is neat, but do people even have those cartridges anymore? I wonder if this is them knowingly releasing a device they intend to be used for piracy.
Can you even pirate 2600 cartridges? There’s no mention of USB ports for access to onboard storage. Just a serial port for the controller.
There’s at least one flash cart option that takes SD cards as the storage medium.
The ROMs are out there and I’m willing to be there is a cartridge that accepts an SD card.
