Yeah, methinks this will be one of those alerts pretty much everyone will be like “yeah, yeah, I know” and click to silence those notifications.

This stuff is truly fascinating as well as mystifying.
So it’s the default. Big deal. You can change that when you start the app first time. If that gets them funding that’s not a horrible price to pay. Also, that’s not money getting influence exactly, that’s a transaction. “We will pay $x to get this status.” Not the same at all as “I donated lots of money therefore I get to say how you develop the software.”
That’s exactly the worst way to prioritize. Money should not be influence. That always works out worse in every example in the history of everything.
I have a few machines running Pop. It’s exceptionally good IMO. It’s like an extremely refined Ubuntu. It’s one of my fav distros.
As I said, I’m fine with it until something equally easy and simple becomes available.
Edit: just to clarify, I did look and ask around a lot before having discovered nativefier. There does not seem to be an easy way to get a browser standalone window with no controls, bars, tabs etc. only the window and the min/max/rest control box. If there’s a way to do that then I would like to certainly.
Ok so, it doesn’t seem to me to be the case. But if you’re indicating a better solution came along, what would that be? I’m fine with nativefier for the two items I made with it. But if there’s something better then please do tell.
Well it does what it’s supposed to do, so who cares.
Again of what? Of nativefier?
So maybe you just jumped to spew your cumload into the conversation, but the original person to whom I replied indicated that it was specifically their friends they were socializing with. And sorry if this sounds too grandpa to you, but tweeting is not a friendship. I see how many young kids these days have “friendships” online but in the real world they couldn’t give a shit about one-another. That’s not friendship.
So, what I was saying to that person is that for your actual real life friends is not a reason to stay on Twitter. Go get together in person and interact the way humans have for the past half million years.
Oh but excuse me for being a grandpa because obviously the toxic and impersonal method of socializing you kids do today is just so much cooler than the way it’s been done for half million years. Clearly, Homo Sapiens was just lame. It’s so lucky that the little brats of today have come along and we’ve finally been given the gift of wisdom of pimpled tweens to know how to relate to one-another: facelessly, voiceless, distanced and atonal on a screen.
What repo? Use npm to get nativefier, the one from regular apt etc. are not current, they’re copies of older versions. Dunno why someone did that.
Yes I meant talk to them. It’s what we used to do back before social media melted most people’s brains.
if you use Twitter to interact with friends
If that’s what you use it for, why don’t you just pick up the goddamn phone to talk to your friends, and ditch the piece of shit that is X.
There are a few brands of them I love mine! Sooo tiny and awesome.
You could also always nativefier it and make it like a webapp. I have some sites setup like that on my machine.
That’s interesting that they’re working on it now. But I guess better late than never. Anyway I’ll check it out, thanks!
Web UIs rarely support everything one needs; usually they support their own system and maybe a little bit of bonus.
Outlook web for hosted Exchange won’t even do multiple mailboxes in a unified Inbox, even on the same account!
I’ve been wanting something too! What I really want is something that interfaces natively with Exchange server as well as integrated inbox for multiple accounts.
The one product that exists is Blue Mail which is pretty nice except that half its functionality is broken. I’ve been in contact with their support multiple times over many months and eventually they just gave up. Its functionality is limited by arbitrary glitches and unknown limitations which they simply don’t want to bother fixing.
I’ve no doubt it will run on such a system, but not nearly as smoothly as with a more powerful machine. Also depends what you run and how many things at a time, etc. not telling you anything you don’t already know, I’m sure :-)
I tried Elementary on some older machines and yes it runs ok but on a really fast system, holy shit is it gorgeous.
Have you replaced Plank with the generic one that you can zoom animate? I wanted to try that one of these days. I’ve used plank elsewhere and I would like for Elementary to have that version.
In my experience with new hardware, it’s always been Ubuntu that works it perfectly where everyone else is like “what’s that? I don’t know that hardware”
A while back I got a new laptop and the audio hardware would only work with Ubuntu which is fine because that’s what I was already using on the previous hardware. Ubuntu with KDE is a very solid setup.
