D’oh! Somehow I didn’t log into lemmy in over a month and totally missed this. Sorry to waste your time and I hope the person who did win is very happy.

Elden Ring. I’ve never really played a souls game, and it looks really great.
Not a lot of joy this year, got laid off last year and now find myself in a job where I’m making less and commuting more, but there were a couple of bright spots. I’ve been running a D&D game set in Mythic Greece, and it’s been the best TTRPG I’ve run or played in years - my players have been absolutely loving it. Plus, I recently spoke to a retirement advisor and found that I’m in very good shape to retire in 10 years, and that makes me very happy.
Thanks for doing this. Happy Holidays!
Yes, from the poster for the movie “Stripes”.
Current game pet peeve - the delay after each enemy acts in combat in Baldur’s Gate 3. I absolutely love this game, but big combats take longer than they should because after each enemy acts, there seems to be a 5-10 second delay before moving on to the next.
Favorite game pet peeve - The overall poor performance/memory management in HBS’s Battletech game. Again, love the game, have put nearly 2000 hours into it over the years, but damn the performance can just be painful sometimes.
AC/DC - You Shook Me All Night Long
Kiss - God of Thunder (Destroyer was the first album I owned)
Depends, if it’s hot enough to need the AC, door closed. If not, door open so I can open the window and get some airflow.
RIF was fun for reddit
As a teenager, I worked in a local single-screen movie theater in an affluent town and had occasion to meet John Delancy (Q from Star Trek Next Gen) who was very friendly, and Jason Robards, who was pleasant enough but kept to himself. I’ve met a few famous people at conventions, but the best was Adrienne Barbeau, who I met at a horror convention in Worcester, MA years ago. It was early and there weren’t a lot of people around yet, so we went over to say hello. We spent about half an hour just talking, commiserating over the then-very-recent cancellation of Carnivale on HBO. She was an absolutely lovely person in every way.

Pineapple and anchovy pizza.
Milk, milk tea, and 2 different smoothies, but no milkshakes? Bah!
Just played through the demo, and I think the gameplay is fun and entertaining, but I agree. It’s not that they’re physically hard to read - you can right click on the cards and blow them up big - but the language is imprecise and unclear in places. It’s not always obvious what a card does or what specific abilities do, even with the tooltips. I did wishlist it, but I’ll wait until it’s on sale or in a bundle.
