I can’t remember the last time I got a DLL error on my Windows laptop, honestly. I don’t think that’s ever happened on my current computer.

Did you make sure you have several GBs of free memory on the device while patching? At least until recently, ReVanced Manager would throw an error if it ran out of memory, and it actually needed (if I recall correctly) around 8 GB of free memory in order to finish the patching process or it’d throw one of several errors, depending on where in the process it ran out of memory.

Supposedly they’ve fixed this issue with the latest update to ReVanced Manager, which included a new patching process, but I haven’t had a chance to test it.

Edit: Also, did you use the default patch selections? While there are other patches available to select and deselect, using anything other than the default selections can sometimes make things a little unstable. I once ran into an issue with patching, and the solution was just… reset the patch selection to just use the default patches. And it suddenly worked.

Did you make sure to turn on the “GmsCore Support” patch? (I think it used to be called “MicroG Support”.) You have to enable that patch on unrooted devices in order for the app to work.

Oh, yeah, I forgot about that setting. Since that specific setting says, “If you deselect Undetermined, you will not see most content,” I just assumed most people didn’t select a language when they post. Since I still have “Undetermined” selected, I’d assumed I’d still see some foreign language posts.

A presidential nominee will typically pick someone who’s different enough from them (but that they still fundamentally agree with) that people who felt underrepresented by the presidential nominee pick will feel represented by the vice presidential nominee pick. That’s the general logic behind who becomes the VP pick.

That’s exactly what happened in 1800. Both Jefferson and Burr, who were from the same party, tied in the electoral college vote. Some people in the party didn’t like Jefferson, but they but didn’t like the opposing party even more.

Each electoral college member got two votes. So all the electoral college members who were part of what would be the winning party ended up casting one vote for Burr and one vote for Jefferson, resulting in a tie. (Due to slow communication in those days, they all assumed someone else was going to be the one who would cast the tie-breaking vote.)

Four days for an update to malware definitions is how computers get infected with malware. But you’re right that they should at least do some sort of simple test. “Does the machine boot, and are its files not getting overzealously deleted?”

Because, out of all the platforms available (Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, Reddit, Lemmy, Mastodon, etc.), Twitter is the place where the news will spread the fastest.

This might be one of Twitter’s automatic security features I’d heard about a while back (prior to the Musk takeover). Supposedly, Twitter stops accounts from getting a large amount of followers in a short amount of time to try to limit botting. Sometimes, rarely, it can trigger when a large amount of real people follow a real account.

I think I heard about it when I ran into the issue myself, but I don’t remember what account it was that I was trying to follow.
