I think you’re being sarcastic, but I unironically agree. Cars and fridges can, and should stay dumb, with the notable exception of battery management systems in electric vehicles. That’s the single acceptable use case for a car IMHO.

To be fair, none of that was in your original post. Not knowing all of that, I think it was a safe assumption you meant the allegations of mistreatment by the CCP, rather than the Falun Gong claims of benevolence.

However, I do want to point out that you could say most of the same things about fundamental Christians, and while I’d personally take the same view of those types ( I do believe they’re a dangerous cult) I wouldn’t say anyone calling them peaceful religious types was engaging in “Alex Jones level of manipulation of the truth” and wouldn’t discount them entirely for holding that view. Particularly when, as you say, it’s very likely they are actually being persecuted

I don’t think what he’s saying about Falun Gong is so far fetched to be outside the realm of plausibility.
There’s been enough reports of similar treatment of other groups, like the Uyghurs and Tibetans, from reputable sources that I believe something is going on there.
As for sources, if the CCP is half as bad as he makes them out to be, it would be irresponsible of him to give sources.

Yes and no. I agree that camel vs snake or that stupid mNameThing that was popular for a while, doesn’t reeeeeaaally matter, although I would argue that convention over the language still has value. As an example, naming a Java variable with a capital letter would be confusing and annoying to any new devs joining the project, even if it’s a valid identifier. Also it’s handy to be able to look at something in ALL_CAPS and know that it’s probably a static final, without having to check it’s definition. I guess it’s about finding that line between useful conventions and pedantry.
Dear god please no. This way madness lies. Your idea of “whatever you think works best” is not going to line up with whatever the next person that comes along thinks, and your codebase is about to get all kinds of fucked up.
Thinking code complete is going to save you is naive. Even in languages like C and Java, where it works best, you still need to be able to read and understand the code in context. There’s no hope in a language like Ruby with all it’s meta programming stuff
I’d say it’s because Apple’s implementation isn’t essentially spyware at it’s core. The Microsoft implementation was straight up deranged and dangerous, frankly.
