  • Ah, yes, that’s true. Sorry, I’m not sure if it came off that way. It’s not that I’m trying to be friends with a therapist. I just don’t want to feel like I’m being judged or criticized?

I’ve only had a few therapists, and one didn’t really do anything, and it felt like a scam, another one tried having me do CBT and I didn’t really find it very helpful after a while and another seemed OK but also it felt like I was being scrutinized or judged. They seemed like they were analyzing me without giving me anything to take away from the experience.

Thank you for the information. I appreciate it a lot. I’ve thought about running something locally but I’m not sure if it is practical yet depending on how long it takes

  • I’ve been using AI therapist tools sometimes. I feel torn because I’ve come to the conclusion that a lot of my problems are caused by external factors that can’t really be fixed. So would speaking to a real person actually make a difference?

I would probably like to speak with a real therapist, but it’s expensive, time-consuming, and I’ve never met one that I feel can fully relate to or understand me. I always feel like I’m silently judged or like they genuinely have no helpful way to help me. So… in a way, the AI tools can at least let me talk through things and get to a more stable place mentally when I need it.

The whole aspect feels wrong, though. Like I realize that I have a problem, but with little to no ways to actively fix it, I kind of have to accept it and / or ignore it. I can relate in some ways to how these people feel. When I’ve been in a vulnerable state, sometimes having a chat bot reply and bounce ideas back and forth can feel emotionally stimulating and reassuring. I find that alarming sometimes when I take a step back and try to process those feelings, though. Then there’s the whole issue of what these company’s are doing with the data and information gathered from their users.

  • I find this funny because the police have been doing this with civilians. My main concern is that this tech is not 100% accurate. I feel like it shouldn’t be used on its own.

I guess if it is used as a supplementary tool and not the main piece of evidence, it could maybe be okay? But I would be scared it would target an innocent individual, which could cause very negative or dangerous consequences. The main thing would be accuracy. I don’t know if it was addressed as part of the article is paywalled.

Edit: I think anything that forces those in power to take accountability for their actions is great though. More tools should be in place to prevent abuse of power

  • This has been my issue with it. They keep making self checkout (or even the regular shopping experience) more like going through security checkpoints. It feels like I’m a criminal even though I’m doing everything properly.

At my local Wal-Mart they have you walk through one way gates, and two or three metal detectors, cameras filming you regardless of which checkout you go through. They also have started locking up more and more items.

I understand they are trying to reduce theft. But it feels like they are trying to put a bandaid on a wound when they’re part of the problem to begin with lol. You also see these changes roll out over the years as people begin to struggle more and more. It seems like the solution should be obvious, but instead of being treated like people, we’re treated like resources for companies. Just value extraction units. Extract value through work, extract value through consumption

  • I don’t think people are going to stop with AI stuff. We saw that new AI video tech release just recently, and they’re already showing it can replace commercials in terms of cost/time investment.

Commercials will 100% be AI going forward. Assuming these costs stay the same, there’s no timeline where they stop doing it unless the law deems it illegal to do so. Or unless the public hates it.

I think it’ll continue forward regardless if we like it or not. We’ll have to adapt in our own ways to this tech. I don’t like it, but unless there’s a major shake-up, I think we’re stuck
