  • America just doesn’t have a culture where the older generations leave things better than they found it. Boomers are generally (but not always) selfish and entitled. They hoarde wealth and vote against anything that jeopardizes it because they feel they worked so hard for it. Even if that thing could positively impact their children or grandchildren. All while telling people working 2+ jobs just to afford food and housing that they’re lazy.

If anything, the media has always catered to boomers and shit on millennials. A lot of millennials have boomer parents as well.

  • I don’t think they knocked me out enough last time. I woke up from a 4.5hr surgery well rested and even dreamed. I scared the nurse right next to my recovery bed because they had just wheeled me in and didn’t expect me to be awake yet. I asked for my glasses and noticed everyone in the big level 1 recovery room was still sleeping. So I cracked some jokes. I then asked her how long the surgery has been because it felt like a while (was supposed to be 3hrs). She got a little freaked out and called the doctor who explained the surgery went a little longer due to some precision needed. I remember every moment from when I woke up to when they put me in the level 2 recovery room and was being walked to the car like 5mins later. I was a little bummed because I asked my husband to record me saying anything silly and he had nothing to work with except me thanking every single nurse I saw.

  • When I was younger and made next to nothing, I ended up in the emergency room with a bill I couldn’t possibly afford to pay. I called up the billing dept and told them about my financial situation and they told me to contact Health Quest so I qualify for a discount. It was relatively easy and not only did it erase my previous debt but it gave me a 0% liability for any hospital fees for the next 6mos. The funny thing was that the hospital ended up selling my my debt to collections by that point so every time they called id fax them a copy of a letter and id never hear from them again and after a few times of them selling this debt to other collectors it just got dropped. This was in upstate NY in like 2010 so YMMV.

  • My heart breaks for Madison because as a woman in tech myself, many of her experiences sound familiar. HR leaders, in many companies, exist primarily to serve the executive team and play PR for them. I’ve met very few who truly have employees backs and even they’re considered rebels. The best option most of the time is to leave the company because even if they call in a 3rd party, it’s lawsuit prevention and not an attempt to fix things. If anyone is in a situation where they’re the victim of inappropriate behavior and the company brings in their lawyer to talk to everyone, do not talk to them. They’re just gathering information so they can refute claims if litigation is presented. They work for the company, not you.

  • I live in Colorado and there’s a lot of California hate here. I don’t feel this way but I know some is directed at the real estate investors who have been buying up homes and making the Denver housing market even worse. During the pandemic so many people lost out on houses to cash deals so they started working with these shady companies that would front you a cash offer for a % of the sale, then you’d just get a loan.
