It takes less money to move than you might think to move. If you have a specialty (especially in STEM) it’s really easy, and most jobs will even provide language classes for free.

Unfortunately I picked the wrong specialty (architecture). Still trying to get licensed by the end of the year, that’s the only chance I have at another country maybe recognizing my degree. Regardless, it’s not very in-demand.

My recovery was honestly pretty bad. I was bed-ridden for about 2 weeks, then 8-ish months of aching pain all day every day. Not actually sure when it finally cleared up, I just realized I hadn’t felt the pain in a while. My first nut was about a month after the procedure, and that was also a very unpleasant experience.

My case is abnormal, but even more rare is the guys that continue to be in pain for the rest of their lives. Didn’t find out about that until I started digging deeper because of my persistent pain.

That said, I still 100% recommend getting it done.

Gotta get creative to get any decent addresses these days. I’ve been trying to establish a company name (with an available, short-ish, simple URL) and it’s surprisingly difficult, even getting into weird TLDs. Really annoying, especially since a lot of them aren’t actually being used.

Finally found a 9 character made-up word that I could get the .us TLD for, and I think that’s about as good as it’s going to get.

Fractional scaling in Windows is still eh, largely because they can’t do a whole lot about icons not designed for that scale. For example in Rhino a bunch of the icons get weird pixel doubling when running 150% because they were designed for 100% and use a lot of 1 pixel wide elements.

It’s honestly the main reason I keep hanging on to my now 10 and 15 year old displays. I’m hoping for a 6k 32" display so I can run true 200%. Dell makes one but they put a stupid webcam forehead on it.

Another vote for DDG. I honestly didn’t realize Google had gone to shit, because I haven’t used them for anything in the last 5 years (which is wild for me to think about, because I used to be a huge Google fanboy in the G+/Hangouts/Google Now/Nexus era).

Yeah you can preview this cycle by looking at Cadillac. They were among the first to go touch-only with Cue in the early 2010s, started fading back in physical buttons with new models in the late 2010s, and on their newest models now have a full set of very nice custom buttons not shared from the GM parts bin.

I use AODnotify to effectively do the same thing. It animates a ring around either the display (when the screen is “off”), or the camera cutout when it’s on.

Varies wildly from phone to phone. I prefer the in screen detectors, since they work great when your phone is on your desk or in a phone dock/charger. They need to be implemented well though.

The one on my Huawei P30 was fantastic. The one on my Pixel 6 was ass, the one on my Pixel 8 is good.

The one on the 6 was ass even without a screen protector, the one on the 8 is good even with one.

You want them to break in for insurance purposes though, it’s a clear indication of unauthorized entry. Your policy should cover the door/window, but if your lock gets picked/bypassed you’re going to have a rough time getting things covered.

A broken window is clear indication of theft for insurance purposes. If your lock gets picked, you might be fucked depending on how your policy is written.

What’s the problem with Namecheap? I’ve been with them since GoDaddy got on the shit list, but I’m not against moving again.

I use Namecheap as my registrar, then split the domain between Adobe for the site (through their CC portfolio builder), and Proton for email. I migrated off Gsuite a while ago, but haven’t had any problems since doing so.
