True, but at least on Lemmy you can switch instances. Or switch to PieFed, or use any other media that supports activitypub.
Reddit is reddit. You can’t just go on another platform and “connect” to a subreddit.
I consider free speech quite valuable. Sure the games might be shit but what’s next?
FairPhone can run Postmarket OS, eOS, iodeos, calyxos and lineageos.
Some have longer support than others. Also you can buy separate parts for their phones and they are modular.
I know it seems kinda ironic. But the way to reach lots of people is to post on YouTube. If you want to reach people and stop them from using google you’re not going to reach them on some obscure platform that no one uses.
And the people using those obscure platforms have already degoogled so your basically preaching to the choir if you use them.
Oh you were talking about social media. I was talking about music services.
Fair enough then. I agree there is no excuse to still use X
Doesnt calyxos also work on fairphone
So what is there for normies? YouTube which is also owned by a fascist company. Deezer which is shit. Apple which is another fascist company that supports trump. Tidal which has also had its fair share of controversy ( not paying artists), shit ui etc.
And if you mention the fediverse people will look at you like you speak an alien language.
Here is my opinion. I absolutely love playing oblivion on my gaming laptop with RTX4080. It looks gorgeous and so do a lot of games.
That said, I’d rather play on the deck with somewhat less graphics and chill on the couch after a long day of work. I just love the portability. Performance is okay for most games (it even plays oblivion okayish with reasonable graphics). A lot of games are optimized pretty well for it.
I just see it as an open source switch you can do and play anything you like on. I have tried windows on it too but personally it has no benefit for me so I use steamOS.
Games I play on it: Oblivion remastered Borderlands 3 Risk of Rain 2 Elden Ring GTA V
I also stream from my PlayStation 5 to my deck with chiaki4deck.
Don’t buy an electrolytic capacitor as back up and store then over a long time. They will degrade and will be bad when you finally need them.
MKP/MKT capacitors are an exception since they don’t degrade the same.
What about people who already have a BT headset, or people who are looking to buy their first headset and don’t own one yet? You just straight up assume everyone still had a headset with wires lying around and that they somehow never break.
Having to buy something makes it bad isn’t really an argument. The very post you are making right now is made from a devide that has been manufactured at some point in time. If you start reasoning like that its better to start living in the woods with no possessions at all.
They are easily repairable and you don’t have to throw them away if the battery goes bad (just replace it).
How is that a bad thing? About 90% of other brands you can throw them away if the battery goes bad or they break.
Seeing how this post has 600 replies and I see a lot of activity in the past 6 months I feel Lemmy is doing pretty well as a reddit alternative.
I certainly don’t miss the amount of shitposting that reddit had. Literally every first post was some dumb joke that didn’t even made me chuckle…
Lol, this is exactly why I use Lemmy. Sure there might be less engagement than reddit. But I’d rather gargle a bucket of diarrhea than go back to that shitty place.

How can you not love W11? It has more telemetry, AI, privacy violating features, garbage uit (not to mention double ui for the same thing) than ever.
Perfect right?
Yes and? Do people who use X really care about privacy. Everyone who even remotely cared already jumped ship and moved on to matrix, signal, Simplex etc.
And im not even mentioning the fact X is owned by a psychopath. But hey let’s pretend they care about your privacy.
What about searxng?
I’ve been hearing more about it and you can apparently even self host it.
Fuji is great. I love my X-S20
Most NAS (network attached storage device) have cloud capabilities. Its kinda like one drive only you host it yourself. Synology has Drive for example and even has apps for android and iOS.
You can just save anything to it. A keepass file I just an encrypted database file. If you save it on a NAS then you can access it anywhere.
Obviously you can also use One drive or google drive (or whatever its called nowadays). But I don’t trust Microsoft or Google with my data.
