Yeah, same here. Once I realized that “federated instances” are just connected communities with similar subs all available from my local instance I was sold. Ad-free, more privacy and no CEO like spez to come in and ruin my experience sold me on Lemmy. I was on reddit for 15 years.

If you make $100,000 for 40 years straight that is $4M. This dude made $21M in a single year. Ford’s share buyback program in 2022 totaled $484M. GM’a share buyback program totaled $3.4B in the past twelve months. We live in a fucked up world. Meanwhile, Ford/GM/Stellantis employees cannot afford to even buy the vehicles they make or feed themselves decent food.

Yeah, all of what you said resonates with me as well. Im having trouble understanding how to find content on other federated instances, the inability to edit comments, the lack of basic understanding and the doubt that lemmy can actually take off due to the learning curve required. If only people willing to learn end up here I guess that is positive though lol
