  • Best car I ever had, so much nicer to drive than any deisel or petrol car I ever drove, and much faster. Second hand as usual. Cheap to run £4/wk vs £20/wk. I charge it at home at night when the electricity is cheap because it’s all wind power at that time of night. Even charging on long journeys is cheaper than fossil fuels.

I don’t like to drive for too long without a proper break anyway so it hasn’t made much difference to us. I just plan it so that 250-300 miles into the journey is early lunch or tea time when we go on holiday. In the UK, the public chargers are pretty good and there’s loads of them. You want to arrive early for lunch if you’re at a motorway services because they get busy, but if you go for a macdonalds or shopping centre, you’ll be fine.

The rest of the year, who cares about range or charging or anything? Just plug it in when you get home if it gets a bit low, and the car’s timer starts the charge when the tariff switches to cheap night electricity. You never need to go to a petrol station again.

Seriously, best car ever. Smooth, FAST and good looking. Makes me happy every day.

  • Google never had any intention whatsoever of prioritising your privacy over their advertising revenue. This technology was 100% designed to shut other operators out of the tracking and advertising market and 0% to reduce their ability to track you and advertise to you. Never in a million years were they going to spend a lot of time, effort and money destroying the source of their money. Hobble competitors, yes. Hobble themselves? Never. Not even a little bit.

  • Yes, in case you were wondering, that upvote opened the channel. From your phone history, I think you have pretty good taste. On the laptop, it’s mostly boring work stuff, but clearly your son is using your login for college stuff and some other stuff you don’t want to bump into if he forgets to use incognito mode next time. Give him his own login and he’ll stop changing your desktop wallpaper.

    Exactly.

One of my friends asserted that they went into a shop in Paris and the staff were speaking in English but switched to French when they saw English tourists walk in, just to be rude to them. They felt harassed because some French people were speaking French in France and wouldn’t believe me when I suggested that they were probably speaking in French before they walked in. They were adamant that they were speaking English at first. Strangely they couldn’t recall anything that the staff had said in English or even the topic of conversation. English is so dominant in their life, even when abroad, that it takes them a while to adjust to the reality that someone else isn’t like them and they take it personally.

This is like that. Someone goes on a dating app, didn’t realise a girl was trans, didn’t spot it in their bio, then got nasty with them. When they got called out for their nastiness, they did the turn-the-tables projection thing, and after harassing a trans person, claimed to have been harassed, and then went online to complain about how bad the harassment is from the trans community.
