I watch YT more than anything else by a mile, and if my top subscription moved to their website, and I had to jump through hoops to watch them on my TV device, by installing a browser or something I probably would stop watching them or watch them way less. Another TV friendly app sure that wouldn’t be a problem, but I don’t see many doing that.

Like others have already said the 9 doesn’t use light/optics but it still sucks compared to the one on the back. I use, but generally dislike the P9 finger print reader. I’ve gone so far as not using a screen protector to help that stupid thing. Still has way too many error reads

Right, but when everyone got phone books, those were only shared locally in the town. It would be pretty hard to figure out someones phone number from across the state/country without the internet unless you knew someone in the town.

You could also pay to be unlisted, which is a luxury long since gone. How cool would it be to make your data ‘unlisted’ by paying a small monthly fee.

I’ve been using plex for a LONG time, and bought a lifetime plexpass 12 years ago. I’m pretty sure I haven’t started a thread on Lemmy regarding Plex, but I’m sure I’m not alone as a LONG TIME user. Plex just works for me and cost me $75 in 2013. Right now I’ve got no pressing reason to switch.

If they remove my plexpass features, or start showing me ads / making my user experience worse, then I’ll probably look to change, and won’t participate in these awful ‘plex’ posts.

P.S. we should encourage as much new content on Lemmy as possible if you ask me.

There are a few apps you can get for like Google TV (nvidia shield etc…) Like smartyoutubetv. But they’ve gotta be side loaded. So you need to install some way to get the APK on the device. It’s all doable, but it’s a pain.

I’d prefer just paying and losing the ads. Since I’m dreaming, I’d also like a check box to remove shorts all together from my experience.

The only problem I have with the premium subscription is the lack of ad control from the content creator. They should have to put them into some kind of wrapper that I, as a premium member can decide to enable or not. As a paying subscriber I should be able to watch it 100% ad free without going through sponsorblock, which is a big pita to do on set-top boxes.

I will sit through ads of the people I watch that are small and trying to make a buck above YT’s pittance. OR, maybe YT could share a little of that sweet sweet profit with them and then not allow them to do their own ads (hahahahaha)

I switched over to Actual last month, and am not looking back. I will miss the native android app, but it is an otherwise direct replacement. I was using YNAB4, and had forever.

Anecdotal story about Colorado.

I visited CO a couple of times a while ago for work. I was in my mid 30’s (2007) and fairly fit. I left Cincinnati Airport surrounded by overweight people all around me where I felt pretty good about myself. I arrived in Denver, and suddenly felt like I was on the less fit side of the spectrum.

It was VERY obvious the change. It was not something I noticed / thought about in Cincinnati, but it hit me like a ton of bricks when I landed in CO.

I’ve talked about that experience through the years. I have to watch what I eat, and work to be ‘as fit’ as I am, it definitely does not just come natural or anything remotely like. I drove around / hiked pretty much every moment I was not working and both trips were amazing. Such a beautiful state!

You can get a lot of different stuff working with HA with different methods/radios. I use Z-Wave, Zigbee,MQTT, and matter devices.

What radio you have connected to your Home Assistant could be your limiting factor. I have HA on a Raspberry PI and use an Aeotec Z-Stick and Conbee II connected to it. There’s probably better stuff out there now.

I left Strava when they adjusted their ‘freemium’ model and hid a number of things behind a paywall. Now I just use Garmin Connect, for tracking my stuff and an ‘athletic’ social circle of friends via connections/news feed.

The odd bit here is that Pixel phones were not necessarily considered flagship phones. And accordingly we’re priced not as flagship phones but if rumors are correct they are trying to get a flagship phone price for non flagship phone.

I both use, and bought this keyboard right after it was announced. I’d say it is not as good as gboard yet. I miss GIFs access and flip back and forth as required. I’ve had zero crashes on my Pixel 8P

It is my primary keyboard, and hopefully still learning, but word suggestion isn’t as good (yet). FUTO voice integrated in which I was already using can be quite good. I’m using the slower version which is a little less convenient but tends to work better.
