The tone of the whole “oops I tried to kill you” response is inappropriately unserious…like “not the witchy potion we want”? If a person was trying to be cute and stuff after making such a serious error, I think we would all be justifiably very annoyed.

Duolingo declared it was going as AI as possible earlier this month and now it’s feeling the backlash.

Well I hope so. I deleted it after reading about that. It had been enshitifying for a while anyway.

I’ve replaced it with Mango languages, which has been teaching me sentences I can actually see myself using, and I can get their premium lessons for free through my library.

I’m sure they’ll find something even more problematic to dump money into sooner or later.

Anyone who works nights, or an evening job that runs late like a bar or something, is currently used to having the date change in the middle of their “day”. I don’t think it’s really that big of a deal. It would be super weird at first, but kids who grew up with it would find our current system just as bananas as we would find this.
