Dual booting with Ubutu a couple tiimes over the last decade, then tried dual booting with Mint 3 years ago on W10, thenW11 is annouced, seems the enshitifaction would be worse but, didn’t use Mint, same reasn I’d not used Ubuntu, fell back on the familiar.

Purchased a new NVME 2 years ago, instilled Mint on it and took the dual boot NVME physically out, 3 months later formated it and use it for Timeshift :) Then.went to LMDE.

Eventually got sick of the nagging on my infrequently used Surface Pro 7 about going to W11 and did the same thing there, wiped it and installed LMDE, a few hiccups but used the Surface Pro drivers from Github and got it sorted eventually, touch works etc

The main reason i stayed was Adobe Lighroom but that was enshitifying as well. I still haven’t wrapped my head around Darktable properly but less time spent on photography these days as well

Onky real dislike is communities disparate across instances. /c/linux here /c/linux there /c/linix every fucking where. There should be some way for communities who want to federate, to federate?

The tiny bit of gaming I do is in my main install is LMDE using Steam, it works fine.

Companies charging what they can to make a profit is how the ayawten is supposed to work,.ideally folks would juat move away, especailly with a want and not a need. The tech soace in particular ia rife with this, it’s why I stoped uaing; Sony, Nintendo, Apple, Microsoft and Adobe etal products.

I mean i actually used Wordperfect for DOS back in the day, so why ? Liber Office is a thing and works.

I went with Linux Mint Debian Edition. Couple hiccups over the last 18 months but queries in the Mint help forum fixed those problems. I use Flatpacs when I can.

2 weeks. Riding my motobike across the Simpson Desert (including getting there and coming back). Stayed at a country pub in western outback Qld on day 14 and & showerd. Prior to that, had been camping out in the bush.
