not making money. make windows a gui on top of linux. like osX. silly microsoft
reminds me of the last time I had to remember that dir/copy/move with backslashes. dad’s insurance ‘software’. always amazed me how computer users get stuck in a way of doing things. print mail
printers would often start working after an elevator ride, apparently. oh tech support
All 1000 scanned ports on 146.70.168.154 are in ignored states. Not shown: 1000 filtered tcp ports (no-response)
Nmap done: 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 26.88 seconds
nice to have choices. new users are better off with a polished install so they can get back to scrolling. takes work to do some desktops. ran a minimal thing for years at work. forget the name.
it really is comforting to know you can do 99% of stuff you want with PCs without a license from Microsoft. FOSS has its own headaches but at least you don’t have to wade through a PR swamp to fix stupid bugs
reminds me of the DMCA form letters. full of scary empty threats. paid legal dept. earning their keep. mgmt doesn’t realize the freely developed stuff makes their products more desirable when it does a better job than their own software. may they flounder in ignorance
whose trauma? think it’s a two way critique
only when I’m driving
analytics and local logs. apache stats. been years since I cared
dev’d an online course web app and website for a community college. users/activity was very cyclic. could see the hits going up every Sunday night as students tried to catch up before Monday class. usage normally dropped around weekends/holidays. maybe similar surges depending on time of day.

$3 dollar words make it seem like it’s real complicated. plain greed and middle management stunts
marketing and bean counters drag down every good idea. That and the belief all the world’s problems can be solved in one paragraph. I used to return a 5 second sleep for bad login attempts. Just to slow down the bots trying to brute force a login. video over increasingly cheap bandwidth for a screen the size of a postcard will soon be replaced with a simpler solution. This is progress. another one bites the dust.
I hired into a community college IT dept ~2000. Manager told me they were a Windows shop. Ha np. I proceeded to replace 3/4 of their server room with Linux. email, cd servers, file servers, web servers, db2, PeopleSoft(gack!). I was working on a cs degree which they paid for about half
replaced a $20,000 cd rack with 15 cd drives + windows os for network sharing, with a desktop PC running redhat(bureaucracy wanted a support contract). Ripped all their cds w/ dd bash script I wrote for automating add/delete cds for the non-cli types.

my bill has gone up 89%
he sees you when you’re sleeping. he knows when you’re awake
I thank win95 lockups for pushing me into linux.
take ownership then deny everyone. if folder is deleted it will reappear
