Any reason you need to encrypt the host OS information? I would assume anything interesting would be in the VM and you could probably have the VM encrypt it’s own storage.
Given historical evidence of my writing that is not a sure thing.
Part of me is bothered by those explanations, but if I had to explain GitHub to a tech illiterate grandparent with that much screen space I don’t know if I would do much better.
To make sure there is not a misunderstanding, the wattage of a PSU is not how much power it will draw. The wattage is how much is can supply. So if you have a 1000w PSU, but all your components draw 200w of power it will use about 200w of power.
Additionally, if you plan to get a lot of HDDs in the future, do some research on power rails. Some PSUs are designed to only be able to supply a small amount of power to things like HDDs because most people only have 1 or 2.
They aren’t a hero. They are a company attempting to generate a profit by selling a product. This is likely to be helpful to the consumers, but they aren’t making a sacrifice for our benefit.
In a practical sense, making lead hot won’t break it down. But I wonder if there is any temperature where lead would stop being lead and continue to not be lead after the results cool down again?
When mine did that it required a battery replacement. Got replacement from this site: https://batterysharks.com/. Also, maybe you should stop doing things that aren’t absolutely necessary until you’ve taken a nap.
My perspective. I don’t think anyone has done anything wrong in this situation. You are clearly upset because you are worried about your friend. You are upset because the other person does not feel the concerned for your friend the way you are. That response is understandable, but not rational. Humans be like that.
I think the idea of leaving your family celebration early to spend some time with your friend is a reasonable solution. Nobody gets everything, but nobody is left out.
I understand that my view point is lacking in years of nuance for the situation and could be totally off. I leave you to judge how accurate/useful my perspective is.
I’m inclined to treat the body with what I would call “professionalism”. You are not emotionally attached beyond the desire to do your job well. Though I am not opposed to some people getting a burial at sea. The better for them to be forgotten.
Many times the best way to respond to strong emotions is to just sit with it. Sit and do nothing but experience it. Don’t try to “solve the problem”, don’t shove it down.
If the iGPU is getting the job done, I would leave that alone. You could add a GPU and pass it through to a gaming VM. But that is an entirely different project.
Proxmox is basically a VM management software that runs in a Debian install. You may be able to add it to your current install, but I am not certain about that.
For HDDs the best way is to think of them like shoes or tires. They will eventually fail, but they also may fail prematurely. I always recommend having a spare drive ready.
You don’t want hardware raid. Some options you can research:
Some OS options to consider:
There are probably other software/OS’s to consider, but those are the ones I have any experience with. I personally use ZFS on Truenas with a lot of help from this YouTube channel. https://youtube.com/@lawrencesystems?si=O1Z4BuEjogjdsslF
There are mod packs that add a lot of content and progression. As much as I like Minecraft, vanilla gets boring fast. Check out curseforge if you want to check it out.
If you want to get things working then never “tinker” with things, maybe it’s not worth it. But if you want to learn and be able to try new things it is really helpful. Having a new VM not breaking existing VMs reduces risk when trying something new.
I think GPU passthrough has improved since you have used it. Some command line prep work is still necessary, but the passthrough config is done in the GUI.
Satisfactory with some friends. We just unlocked trains.
