This announcement doesn’t have anything to do with cryptocurrencies or nfts. I’m not sure if I like the idea yet either, but please don’t conflate it with all that other scammy nonsense.
This seems pretty clearly AI-written. Which I suppose isn’t inherently an issue except that this takes a single thought (“AUR has more packages than NixOS”) and stretches it out to multiple paragraphs without adding any additional value. Why do this? A lemmy post doesn’t need to look like a blog post from some tech company. Just state your thought or ask a question and post it. This format does nothing but waste the time of readers.
it is, actually; your argument is a whataboutism, which is logically fallacious
As a user of the GNU Guix operating system, and a big fan of the GNU Emacs editor…
yeah, you’re completely right. Linux is a perfectly apt name.
Though I am with you in hating Western Big Tech apologia, I don’t agree with this point overall. Even the sources you linked show that TikTok collects an ungodly amount of data on its users. The Clario study shows that it’s in 6th place… is being lower than Facebook and Instagram supposed to be an accomplishment? And it’s much higher than Twitter and Zoom, which is definitely not a good thing.
It’s not a “QAnon-esque conspiracy theory”. Russia’s online influence in American politics has been fairly well documented. That being said, I think it’s somewhat unhealthy to assume everyone who says something controversial is dishonest or a troll. Not good for discourse.
