When looking at a repo, you can also just type a period to open it in a browser vs code editor.

I got in the habit of backing into parking spaces after I had a car that needed a jump start, but I had pulled in and no spaces next to me were available to pull the jumper car into. To be fair to the people you are describing, the ecosystem that makes up the whole of software is so large and complex that becoming an expert in even a small area is something that can take years. Sometimes you have to accept that it is better to focus on one area and not try to understand everything. A mechanic doesnt need to know how rubber is made to change a tire.
