You are 100% correct. The problem is most of the public has lost the ability to discern the difference between truth and fiction. Not their fault specifically: most of even the most technically literate would struggle to fact check what our news media and feeds dump on us.
The lizard brains always existed. Inbred, maladjusted, loud angry hateful fucks. We used to be able to suppress them. We ceded the helm of this nation to a bunch of corporations and their puppets in congress. We’ve been trying like hell to fight this multi front battle and are just taking Ls across the board.

Strange- the very tone of this thread is suggesting that the HA developers choice in how they distribute their platform is “incorrect” by your assertions. Further you seem to disagree with explanations provided as to why those choices were likely made.
Dismissing those statements and observations do not make them incorrect. Nothing I stated is dramatic: it is an observation and a comment on an increasing trend popping up around several projects. This particular topic and your responses within it align with that trend. My closing statement was directed at that. You are welcome to not like it but resorting to insults is a bit childish.

I’ve seen a number of topics over the last few weeks that are framed as this evil developer is doing a sinister thing…. And for what it’s worth I read the “clickbait” and then did my due diligence and followed the links / git responses etc and lo and behold every. single. issue. was stemming from that community.
We aren’t reddit. This isn’t 4chan. If your community is getting cut off because, frankly, it’s being unreasonable… don’t come here looking for a personal army.
It seems to me they chose to provide a platform that vastly simplifies the installation of their software and maintenance of its code from a debugging standpoint. This seems perfectly reasonable. This appears to bother a particular community who feel entitled enough to demand multiple developers cater to their distribution’s needs. Shit needs to stop.

This is true enough. In general though I think it’s finding a tipping point between investors and having a good OS. Per the usual every other OS pattern they follow it probably will be on the struggle bus until the next version.
Steams been a massive contributor to that.
It’s a demonstration that if we focus on a common goal that Linux development can actually be pushed forwards. So this is definitely an improvement for end users - and I expect it will improve in the future… But broadly speaking there are too many requirements for some level of troubleshooting knowledge.
Mostly because it’s simply not that easy. Devs go where support is at and follow market share (2000s era Mac gamer memes.)
If you look at the Linux community as a whole it’s a wasteland of competing parties and standards. So it’s not developing for linux it’s developing for distros^hardware.
Windows is shit and it’s pretty well known that it’s getting worse… but it’s still the standard and unfortunately until Linux starts unifying and becoming more stable for developers it’s unlikely to become more compelling for the broader market to switch to.
TLDR; every time a new conflict breaks out hop in that thread and say “give peace a chance” and see how well that gets received.
My biggest complaint is that there should be a visual indication of this process. Many users are utterly unaware it is going on.

To my knowledge the biggest benefit for this mod was emulation on the Xbox getting a performance boost. In most cases there are far better platforms to run those emulators on now.
I vaguely recall there being an uplift in fps on some titles - but in general it was a cool thing that had limited uses.
